That would leave you with just as much strength, the correct angle, and a thicker mounting point.
Greyson hobby has all those parts in stock-

Also, I discovered that by putting the washer on the plastic side you avoid splitting the tabs off by over-tightening the screw heads into the plastic.

That's a nice weather site, Ken!
I've been using wunderground...it'll give a general idea of the winds, temps are pretty accurate.
It's hard to predict anything out here though, especially when winds can be 180deg different 15 miles away.
Noticed that the temps and wind are different between usairnet and wunderground right off the bat.
Going to give your link a try this season and see if it can predict weather here better

I was thinking of you when I sent it as far as the winds go they are very good, I have had times when it said wind to pick up at 10:00 AM and you could almost set your watch to it. Very good at the rest
I did a forecast for your area and yes you do have the winds out there

I plan on converting my Waco from a 5 to a 7 by buying a radial motor from Parkflyer Plastics and getting rid of the cowl.

Say if this works out, we can go to Caliie Graphics, she makes great decals. We could send a picture of the decal sheet from the E-Flite Stearman and she can scale them for us.
By the way the Waco is 1/7 scale according to this article .

Great Idea. I calculated the scale and it was in between a 1/7 and 1/6. Exactly. I suppose if you round up it is 1/7. I plan to send Callie my dad's plane picture and I also have a picture of another V-5 Waco 7. The Eflite decals is a great Idea. Still waiting for my 3M sample of Patch Plus. Almost cleared my bench too. Getting ready.

Ok...here's my finished product. The plywood brackets fit pretty good if I do say so myself and the angle came out just right on the outboard ones. I took the suggestion of a poster (man, I'm sorry I don't remember who it was) and just let the new screws "tap" the holes in the plywood, then hardened them with thin CA. They just screw right in and nice and tight. I don't know if I even need nuts on the other side. She's ready to fly tomorrow! Whoo Hooo!

What colors are they painted? Did a search and had no luck

Thanks Ken...but don't look too close! I get lots of practice fixing things that I fly, if you know what I mean, lol. There is one guy in our group that can fly anything (in fact, that's his tag line) and he is the one everybody goes to if they are afraid to maiden a new plane or newly repaired one. Fantastic pilot. On the other hand, he will have someone else build or repair. We think it's because he never crashes.
