this may not be the best place for this since most people here fly 3D but I am interested in buying a new 3dhs plane and am not sure which to get. I am not a
3D flyer, I am more a sport pattern type flyer. I will be using 3 cell 2200 batteries and am trying to decide between these planes.
42" AJ Slick
47" Extra 300 SHP
46" Yak 55
47" Edge 540
47" Osiris

Go with the SHP. Great flyer and affordable.

I've only had the 47'' SHP out of the planes on your list. It would make a great sport flyer, but the Osiris is made for pattern so if you don't plan on doing any 3d at all you might as well go with the osiris.

My vote would be either the SHP or the 42" Slick, or consider the 41" Edge if you're learning 3D. I've heard great things about the SHP, but I've only has the 42" and 41" and I loved them both. If it's in your price range, I'd recommend to try a 51" Slick.

Are you not interested in flying 3d at all?

stgdz: I wasnt really looking to get into 3D flight at this point, I had a electrifly yak 54 41" wingspan that I was flying until it took an unfortunate dive into the ground. That is why I am looking into getting a new plane and I have heard nothing but great things about these airplanes from 3dhs. I have plenty of 3 cell 2200 mah batteries which is what I used in my yak so i would really like to stick with that size battery in a new plane.

If you aren't looking to get into 3d flight then a pattern plane like the extreme flight vanquish or the 3dhs Osiris would be the way to go. Setup the planes with low rates being the maximum throw you can get on aileron and elevator or the nearest hole on the servo arm and Max out your throws on the transmitter. Rudder you will want the hole farther out on the arm as it helps with ground maneuvers.

I fly the vanq and I purposely kept the overall rates low and its the one plane I can point at and say it made me a better flyer.

It fly like glass and everyone stops to watch when I bring it out.

Do you think the 3 cell 2200 battery would be enough power for the osiris with their recommended Omega motor?

What's the c rating?

Don't forget about ganging two in series. That opens up some 6s possibilities, also.

The C rating of my batteries are 45C constant and 90C burst.

The Vyper does look like a nice plane as well. I assume that is pretty similar to the Osiris

Its different, its more 3d than pattern but it can do both.


Personally I would stick with the pure pattern plane as you said you just wanted to sport fly.
