I tried a bunch of props and adapters. I couldn't find one that fit, other than the stock prop. The stock prop is brittle and tends to break on your first nose over. That's why I went with the Parkzone T-28 prop. It really isn't that hard to center manually.

I have had great luck with these props. Still fragile, but at least they are cheap:

Okay ,Here's the new Tower plane ,out in late Jan. A F6F Hellcat ... All the best of the P-51 and Corsair ....With a 3 blade prop I just pre-ordered one ...The manual is on the Tower website, it looks really nice....I gave up making excuses for buying airplanes... (2013 new years res.)

the stock prop is 9x4.5 slow fly.

What is slow fly? And if I get a different prop will it need to be SF also?

Have any of you tried a MAS 9x6 prop?

Well, I balled up my Corsair last night . Without going into detail she went in vertically nose first pretty hard. What suprised me was how little damage there was! Ruined the prop, crushed the cowling, broke the motor mounts, and snapped the plastic wing retaining bolt, but that was it, Fuselage, wing, tail feathers, etc have no damage!

The cowling pretty much absorbed all the impact, I'm totally impressed. If that had been my PZ Wildcat there would have been foam pieces everywhere.

This will be a good time to put in a HURC 480 Plus and try that out

Gonna have to look into getting that Hellcat they are releasing this month as well

I'm going to order a couple of the Tower Hellcat 3 blade props and see how I like those...

Are you asking about the 3 blade props for the Hellcat ? It should just a few day's until they have the Hellcat in stock and parts for sale !! Late Jan. they say....

yea. I guess I will keep checking. Post back if you find it before I do. This should be the perfect 3 blade prop for the F4U

The 10 x 6 3-blade prop for the Tower Hobbies Hellcat is part number TOWA6103. They are in-transit and due in on the 31st, so if you can just hold tight for a couple more days.

Hey thanks,Hobbico Guy !!! Okay ! I 've got a Hellcat preordered and I 'm sure I'll like it as much as the rest of my P-51's and Corsair I started flying 4 yrs ago with a SkyFly Max and still fly it with snow ski's ,over the last year it seems sort of slow in the air ,so I thought I'd get a little quicker motor...The question is what kv is the motor in the SkyFly ? I was thinking of putting in a 1100 kv ,450 class sport I have with a 40 amp esc...might blow the wings off ,with 2200 mah lipo...

Surely!

I went back into some old records of when the SkyMax was developed. Looks like the kV of the motor is 1530 and the max. Amps is 19A (for continuous, full-throttle running), but don't quote me on that because I just retrieved that out of somebody els's records. That 19A was measured static/non-flying, so if you prop it for 19A on the ground you should be a little more than safe as the current should drop in the air some and you likely won't be flying at full-throttle continuously.

I don't know what the motor weighs, but you might weigh it yourself and do the math to find another estimate of the power the motor should be able to handle. Heard of the 3 Watts-per-gram rule? Give or take, most outrunners should be able to work continuously @ 3W/g. So multiply whatever the weight of the motor is in grams by 3 and that should be a rule-of-thumb for continuous running.

Do I weigh the plane without motor ,I 've never done the "math" for a upgrade like this ? I've just done recommended stuff for upgrade's in the past...

Ha, no.

I'm talking about the amount of power that a motor is supposed to be able to safely produce....weigh the motor by itself - not the plane! Say the motor weighs 70 grams. Multiply 70 x 3 (Watts per gram) to get 210 Watts. By this rule, the motor should be safe to operate indefinitely at 210 Watts.

I already stipulated the motor should be okay at 19A. But if you want to check it another way do the 3W/g rule as well - just another parameter to go by.

It's not the TH Corsair but.......

Guys I know it is not the TH but this cheap bird has been a blast and has gone through several mods. This is the most recent mod, a new cowl. Purchased at leaders hobby over a year ago, is one of those kits from china. Has a NTM 1200kv 2826 size, 3 9gr servos and a red brick 50A esc. (They are so cheap so....) Had to put some fiber glass under the wings to reinforce them since when I used a 4 cell 1000mah lipo, the wings looked as if they would break Cost $80.00 Usually fly it with a 1300mah 3 cell lipo.
