Not arguing . . . just saying . . .

I can press a couple of buttons on my pc in Canada, and 3 - 4 weeks and some 5000 miles later, a flight-ready quad, with everything I need to fly, is delivered to within a few steps of my door.

The cost? About $40.

Where I live, that is a good deal every day.

regards . . . g

ps: That 2 fast 2 fun canopy rocks!

Consider that the higher volume includes the same clone parts already being made. Add the typical shipping costs of 0-$10 and even that would much less bulk shipments and lot buys for distributors around the planet.

They would not have made as much profit at the sale price, but they would have gotten some good words from the beta tester Gents that received them, and that is certainly well worth the cost of advertising Remember the WLToys V939 was about $32 shipped when it first came out too

Mind you I am not complaining, just offering some economic truth. The law of supply and demand is still in effect

Cheers,
Jim

Jim,

did you take into account the Toy TX cost (those that are included in the RTF packages) in your calculation? Maybe I`m wrong but my impression is that those littleTX are even more expensive than the quad itself.

Regards.

Exactly. This reality was beyond my wildest dreams 30-years ago, when I got my first RC plane.

Hi R,
Yep please read the post These simple Tx's were sold for $8 at TMart a while back. So I figure manufacture in bulk is about $5 or less considering the parts involved

Again this is Bill of Materials(BOM) and not mark up for market, supply and demand, middle-man...phase of the moon, etc. At least for micros it is not as bad as for some folks out there paying $1200 for modules for the big-boy BIY multicopters that have a BOM cost of about $120 or 10X for support, firmware updates for bugs, paying more makes it feel more professional, etc.. Yes I know you have development costs, etc. Again I am only talking material costs for the rest of the story purposes. The fun value of these micros are well worth the $30-$40 we pay. Peace.
Cheers,
Jim

Check out this new Digitech quad, with something we haven't seen before on a quad - flybars!

Kind of looks like it's made out of Lock Blocks.
