I guess that's why they sell spares of the canopy and motor cover. I've seen applications where guys use small magnets to hold the canopy and covers on, but others say not to use them (?). There isn't a huge price difference, but do you think the ESC needs to be 40A or could a smaller one work OK (18/20A)? Good to see you can get at least some parts out of your warehouse.

What motor you referring to?if the 2826 2200kv nothing smaller than 35A with a burst of over 40A or you'll fry it and the magic smoke will appear

Yah, I was talking about that motor. I've seen that size and larger used in heli's and they only used the 18A plush. Then again, they aren't flying at WOT for extended periods of time either. In this case, the ESC is twice the $$$ of the motor.

heli's pull VERY little WOT bursts,so an 18A will most certainly smoke up.a 40A Mystery/Blue series is $17 odd which is nothing.and for you guys in the US it will be a cheap plane to get into the air.even for me total with shipping is $100.
but I reckon that 2826 2200kv on 3s will scoot this along quite well I'm keen(too many planes I want)

My other concern is size. There's a big difference between an 18A ESC and a 40A ESC. I joked about the US warehouse because S&H would be a fraction of what it is from China, but they have just about nothing in that warehouse.

ag it's a few mm's
the Plush 18A is 24x45x11mm
Plush 40A is 55x28x13mm
and Mystery/Blue Series is 52*23*7mm
so a few mm's is nothing,and weight wise a few g's

Some idea to convert z84 to 4s?. I've tried the CF2812 but only 1500KV and must mount 7 inch props. At 3S It mounts cf2805 with 6x4 props and works fine but I want a bit more.

Thanks

Don't know about 4s but i'm running 3s 2208 1800kv with a 6x5.5 and it has a good top speed but still manages good flight times.

I'd go with a Funfighter motor and Turnigy Plush 30 amp ESC.

Most ESC's come wrapped up black shrink. Have you guys taken the cover off so it isn't holding in heat? There's a guy on the Neptune thread who mounted it where the wing and body come together to give it more air flow. He says it made a big difference.

The motor that comes with the wing wing is very small and is meant to be run be a 2 cell lipo. The above motors are much bigger and ir meant to be run with a 3 cell or maybe a 4 cell lipo. Many times the power of the stock setup.

Thanks. There are several 40A ESC's listed. How do you choose one besides price? The ARF 10 A has a BEC. Is a BEC necessary?
I could buy the kit out of the US warehouse and might find a suitable ESC from there too, but most motors are out of the International warehouse. If you buy the kit, does it give you the servo rods? The description only says "hardware". It would be nice to be able to put this thing together from parts out of the US warehouse.
