Pizza Box Flyer, Thanks to Goldguy

I built this Pizza Box Flyer, and I like it even better than the Simple Delta. It flies GREAT.

I had a CG issue and had to mount the motor way forward, rigging up a foam platform supported by a popsicle stick (looks like the original pbf had the same setup), but once I balanced it at 3.5 inches it was incredible.

It slow flies really well, and it's easy to hover. I've only begun to explore what this thing can do. Again, I wonder why I don't see a ton of these at the field? Easy to build, cheap, and hugely fun to fly.

Mine is an 18 inch square made of Dollar Tree foam and covered in packing tape, with a 5 inch square vertical stab (and working rudder, though it isn't big enough), and 2.5 inch wide ailerons. I've got a 105 watt motor from HK and a 1000 mah battery (I flew it with a 500 as well, and it flew even better but not as long).

I'm in love with this airplane.

If you want to add a little colour, try this. We use them for fun combat.

That's pretty cool. Looks like the key to balancing them is to put the servos far forward.

That's right. The batt also needs to be forward. You can see the Velcro pad beside the red nose in the almost top view. I also put that doubler on the bottom front that's 5 in. wide. Serves two purposes, a little more weight on the front and stiffens it up a bit. CG is at 5.5 in. from the front. Elevons are 4 in. wide with lots of expo. Fun little plane. We fly these indoors in the winter. This is one of my backup planes.

Gord.

I took out my pbf today, plus a 20 incher I built for Dad, and had a blast. But...

Enthusiasm got away from me. I like this AS MUCH as the Simple Delta. They both do different things well, and I wouldn't want to be without either.

If you haven't tried this or the SD, do it! You'll be very happy.
