I am going to buy 100 AMP Castle ESC. ICE or ICE Lite?

In addition, how much headroom is there with these ESC's? I have read that Castle under rates their ESCs. If so, how much?

You will need at least a 75 ESC for 4s. I would put a 100A in there (ICE 100) to be ready for 5s, when you desire more power.
What do you think the thrust would be if I went with Mega 16/35/1 on 5S with the stock fan and ICE 100? Would this be a reliable 5S upgrade setup? Or do I need the next size up Mega (not sure which this is)?

Looking for a good bolt-on setup to upgrade thrust in the Habu.

Thanks

My guess is about about 5 lbs thrust. Once you start pushing equipment, fly at WOT the whole flight can't be done. that's what the stock (3200kv) motor on 4s is for.
With some throttle management and a heat sink, you should be fine. This is the case for hot setups with any EDF.
The next step up (longer motor) would be the 16/40/1 (3150kv) motor on 6s, or the HET 1W-40 (3300kv)

Ah,its hard to see but it looks like you did same as me...
Have plenty of room in battery tray with the 2600mah lipo

I posted this on fh64's modification thread but has anybody tried a SAPAC MB1 in their Habu 2? On a 5s they should pull 1800 watts at about 100 amps.

Second question. Where can you buy thrust tube Mylar? I think 5 mils is what I need. Chime in.

Shung, with the 2600 lipo I can know you will have plenty of room, the 3300 6s I am running fits well enough. You may be low on flight times though,a couple of passes and then you will have to land, might be cutting that close. Is there any way you can go at least 3000 size lipos?

5 lb thrust should be more than adeqate...weight is around 3 lb now but I can't believe the stock motor is putting out more than 2 lb.

What 5S setup would you recommend if I want to fly mostly full throttle the whole time assuming I want reliablity (hundreds of flights) and bolt-on (no grinding the motor shaft to fit...just simple assembly via fasteners)? I've heard you have some good ones!

You will need a motor and esc made from unobtanium to fly wide open all the time.

I opted for a 2600 size as this battery weighs similar to the stock 4s setup. My setup on a 2600 6S is pulling 900+ watts @ 42amps, flight times will be 4-5min with throttle management. Plenty for me.

If you can find it locally I would.
It ships rolled up in a priority mailing tube. 1-4 days.
I adjusted the dimensions so you should be charged about $7.50 for USPS Priority mail.

Well, tonight I flew the following pattern on 4S: take off 100%, 100% on down wind leg, down to 90% next turn, 75-90 through the up wind section, then 100% in the turn and down wind.

I'd love to fly at 50% but the plane looks slow and I'm afraid of stall.

So with 75% throttle some of the time and 100% on the down wind leg, would the 16/35/1 last a long time on 5S with a good ESC and proper cooling? Is the Mega 16/35/1 a bolt on solution or does it need a trim/mods?
