I so badly wanted to slip some milar into the exit duct but I couldnt figure out how. The i.d. of the duct is smaller than o.d. of the fan. So basically I couldn't open the rolled milar tube wide enough to tape around the fan. It appears that I would need to bore out the foam that makes up the duct so that the roll can expand enough to fit the fan.
I went without it for now so I could run up some numbers on the fan in the jet.

With the three various pack sizes I had on hand here is my results:

5s 3300mAh 30C
15.59vm
106.9ap
1787wp
3 min fly time

4s 3500mAh 35C
13.11vm
82.96ap
1130wp
2.52 min fly time

Auw
5s 2200 1.6kg / 3lb9oz
5s 3300 1.8kg / 3lb13oz
* 22grams in the tail needed to balance
4s 3500 1.63kg / 3lb9oz
Quick question here: How did you get 3 min flight time with 106 amp draw on 5s but only 2/12 on 4s with 83 amp draw? Was this pure throttle management?

I like the combo, just curious on flight time. That's my only hang up now...would like to see a combo with 70amp draw tops that would be 1200 watts/3.75 lb thrust. The eflite 3200kv motor should do it but it's really not rated for anything like 70amp.

The 106ap is the burst peak amperage as read from the wattmeter. It would settle at 90-96 amps and I could run it at between 75-100% throttle for 3 mins before soft cutoff. When I actually fly it I will set the timer for 3 mins and probably fly for 4 mins with conservative throttle knowing I am probably only running at 60 amps most of the time.
I also used my infra red temp gun and did not see the temps rise beyond 76* F
The 4s provided similar flights times with similar throttle use. I believe the reason is because one of the 2 brands of pack's labeled capacity is actually inaccurate.

When do you think you will fly the 5s setup? I am curious to see how it flies, it will give me something to compare mine to.My numbers are close to yours, allthough I am on 6s and have quite a few more watts.I still need to try a thrust tube on mine but not in any hurry as its no lacking in thrust.

ooh we got some nasty weather coming our way. Might be awhile before I get a shot at it. This combo has some crazy thrust too and I can hardly wait.

A smaller outlet will improve top speed.

Bare airframe ESC installation

Fall season is here with shorter, cooler and windy days. So, it is time to start building. the Habu 2. Components are purchased except for Castle BEC. I opted for the less expensive Hobbywing Pro100 amp ESC which should handle the Sapac MB1 and fan. Tonight's task was to install the ESC in the ductwork. I like the idea of putting the ESC in the inlet airflow and moving it further back to help with weight distribution especially when running a 5S. Below are a couple of pictures with the foam cut out and fitted. I was planning on using silicone RTV to install it.

Yea actually you know what? Another guy at the tarmac had just bought a Dynam Meteor and we were doing the old comparison. I really liked its location of the esc more and thought it might be a viable option for the Habu as well.

btw I think you did a great job mounting yours.

Esc looks great. Lots of cooling there.

It is not my idea, just an implementation of another person's idea. That's what makes RCgroups so great! You get to see other people's ideas and use them. I just wish I could give proper credit.

It should do the job and move weight rearward. I just did some modifying of the battery area and moved the 5S 3300 pack back 2" from the stock location. See attached picture.

Wow Mike, your H2 is gonna snap your head back. Should be a real screamer! I got the exact same setup in my twin raptor and I am still testing. I got similar numbers to your results. Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1349964008.749600.jpg

Description: I did find the heat of the 2950's to be an issue. In one case it melted the mount in the shroud and ruined it. It may have been my bad balancing job or maybe not enough fan clearance but I have since added thermal paste and heat sinks to be safer.
Be sure to take a camera man with ya cause I want to see your H2 go!

I've put the heat sink on the motor with the Artic Silver thermal paste. I plan on making the first few runs at a reduced throttle. This is my first foray into 6S...I'm expecting 3.5min of sheer terror and sweaty palms!

Hey guys when I had my shaker flight with the new CS fan on 5s I had encountered problems that had me puzzled.

* 2950kv motor on 5s 3300 mAh 30C with CS 10 blade fan

parkzone habu 2 5s (6 min 17 sec)

I have now located the problem and turned out to be bad factory soldering on those motor lead extension wires. I have now replaced them with 12awg silicone wire and soldered them directly to the motor this time.

I actually prefer doing it this way but was surprised that this was the condition from factory. I was really lucky to not have had a crash as this is already a replacement plane from HH.

I recommend to everyone to solder the leads directly.

Has anyone tried using dielectric grease on connectors? This product claims to enhance the connection and prevents arcing and damage to battery connections.

Hey Whalley...my first motor arrived DOA, nothing but a humming noise when powered up. I returned to edf hobbies (he replaced with no questions asked!) but later told me he thought the problem was a bad connector...that said, your suggestion may be the best preventative fix
