I just wish they can ask english speaking people to give names for the butons that make sense.

I also did some programming in my life and to change names captions for butons is not difficult takes 30min off their time.

I looked at the DJI iOSD again.
I though it was a ground based osd.
Nothing special that any other can already do.

It is nice they have av switcher.
And integration into the WKM.
Fail on no current sensor though.


I am still undecided on weather I will use an OSD or just use a Ground station overlaying on a video.

Since I am more interested in the mission and not fun FPV flying, the GCS screen is more useful for me.

There seems to be a big shortfall in this department.

Below are the steps out of the Install Guide:

Start Install

Check Data is connected. If connected click next

Step 1 : Please press the button "Channel Alignment" and confirm it, and then push/pull all pole positions of the RC Tx to the maximum and minimum of the leftmost/rightmost within 5 seconds. After 5 seconds the AP will finish the auto collection. Please confirm whether the manual operation and real RC operation displayed in "Data Interface" keep coincidency when moving any operating level. Only go to the next step after confirming that they are coincident.

Step 2: Check CH5/CH6 and set FS

Please carefully confirm whether the CH5/CH6 channel is correct: check whether the flight status bar on the GCS interface is switched to "Manual" "Circle Position" "Auto waypoint circling" and "back Landing" when moving CH5/CH6.
Set the FS of RC Tx as CH5=position 3, Channel 6: position 3, Thr is near the middle position and check whther the flight status is "Back Landing" by powering off the RC Tx.

Step 3: ESC stroke calibration

Please get into the settings first (Flight status displays "Settings", break the pole as V shaped to open throttle insurance and push the THR pole position to the maximum within 5 seconds, power on the ESC after completing above operation. Pull the throttle pole back to minimum after a prompt sound from the ESC. After completing the ESC stroke calibration please exit the settings, and get into next step.

Step 4: Set craft styles and parameters

Please read the user manual carefully, fill in correct parameters and recheck it. Push the throttle after breaking the pole and check whether the mixing control method is correct after starting the motors

Step 5: Check the installing directions of the IMU/GPS

Step 6: Complete magnetic calibration in outdoor space

Just the point is I was hoping not to have to rely on the Android GCS because Ill be flying my other rigs at the same time when I go fly the YS, and these are all run from my small laptop GCS setup and I do rpefer to just use the Rx and not bother switching from one to the other. As you advised I did manage to get the setup and calibration working using the Android setup. It was all simply a mistake earlier that I didn't realise I had to do the whole calibration process all within the 5 second time frame. Now I have done this it works doing the calibration on the PC GCS as well.

My setup is on the link I sent earlier and yes I did remove that soft sponge mount since these photos were taken. http://www.diydrones.com/forum/topic...age=7#comments

Not sure if i get what you mean? You want to fly all your rigs simultaneously and not like to use android app? Why not buy another small laptop?

Manual has normally came out few hours/days later or so. Just a little patient please, i'm sure it'll be out soon.

How do you guys carry out the above step as per the manual. The sep-up procedure asks you (because the FC is powered on) to go through the install procedure, exit that and go into settings, carry out V shaped 'thingy', push the throttle up to max, and then power on the ESC....What ?...one at a time or all at once. Do you have a seperate power supply for your ESCs than you have for your FC ? For a simple minded person as myself how do you interpret and carry out, step-by-step, the above procedure ?

Just follow these instructions from my old post.

If you do it correctly, your ESCs will be calibrated all at once. That's it!

Please note that this calibration is for setting the throttle range of the ESCs to comply with the YS-X6' range. Even if you've calibrated the throttle range of your ESCs individually that doesn't matter because you still need to run ESC calibration from the GCS.

Also note that you still need to run typical ESCs calibration for each of the ESCs e.g. setting battery type to NiMH not lipo etc before you calibrate the ESCs all at once through the GCS.

no worries. Please redo the channel and compass calibration as well as check the settings: magnetic declination, aircraft type, lipo cell number etc. Also check the "radio" and "real servo" values in the GCS as well as paying attention to altitude value and velx, vely and veld numbers. Make sure "real servo" value correspond correctly to tx input.

Your multi should fly well.

in GCS 2012.10.22 everything is ok. can you test it.

Latest firmware and android GCS seems fine. 3 more buttons, widen, truncate and ptz lock in settings too
