Choose the new paintscheme for the FMS 1400mm FW190-A8
Hi!
Once more, the RCG community gets to choose a FMS paintscheme. After the success of their first FW190 paintscheme - Willi Maximowitz's Red 8 - a second scheme is being introduced for the 1400mm FW190-A8. I prepared 5 schemes on behalf of FMS for you to choose from. Some of the schemes are well known from several books, magazines and scale model kits. These are not my favourite schemes, but a selection of those schemes that FMS considers for the new paintjob. They kindly asked me to set up this poll. This is officially FMS, not my personal poll! Here they are: 1. Red 1, Leutnant Hans Dortenmann, 4./JG 54, Summer 1944 This scheme is very well known from several publications and scale kits. It features a standard RLM 74/75/76 scheme. On the port side it sports the Gruppe, Staffel and Geschwader insignia (Devil and Shield with Green Heart), as well as the name "Hascherl 1" which make it a very lively, yet classic scheme. 2. Red 19 "Kölle Alaaf", Unteroffizier Ernst Schröder, 5./JG 300, Fall 1944 This scheme is probably the most famous FW190 scheme! It has been featured in many books, articles, magazines and scale model kits. There are plenty of pictures and drawings of it and it is very well documented. The scheme will be the later version with the Red band (Reichsverteidigungsband) and the more distinct Balkenkreuz (both are visible on the starboard side of the scheme). The colors are standard RLM 74/75/76 with the slogan "Kölle Alaaf" on the port side ("Kölle Alaaf" is the slogan of the Cologne Carnival and means "Hurray Cologne") and the name "Edelgard" on the starboard side. Edelgard is the name of Schröder's girldfriend. 3. Black 11, Schlangenschwarm 3./Jgr. 10 The Schlangenschwarm schemes are also quite famous. They are standard RLM 74/75/76. Note that most sources show the Schlangenschwarm planes with red numbers, however they were black with a thin red outline which I tried to represent in the picture that originally had a red number as well. Note that the camo on the picture seems to be blueish, but in the final product would be just as grey as all the other schemes. 4. Blue 13, Major Walter Dahl, JG300, Fall 1944 A classic RLM 74/75/76 scheme of the Kommodore of JG300, Maj. Walter Dahl. The symbol on the engine cowling shows a B17 in crosshairs and is probably Dahl's personal emblem. The plane also sports the red Reichsverteidigungsband. 5. White 6, Leutnant Gustl Salffner, 7./JG 300, Spring 1945 Another classic 74/75/76 scheme. It shows the late Blue-White-Blue Reichsverteidigungsband and Salffner's family crest on the engine cowling. Note that the bubbly canopy will not be implemented into the model if this scheme is chosen. Please make your choice! One vote per person. See the below sideviews for reference. More reference on most schemes can be found on the internet. Best wishes, Bernhard
