Shock, your Mako looks sharp. I zoomed in on the picture and all your corners look great, sanded nicely. I am sure you will have a blast flying it.

Thanks! Looks like I have to order me some Foam tac for future builds like the Mako wish there was a local shop that carries this.

As bdiesel3 said they are painted with black Krylon "Short Cuts". Not only does this look nicer than plain wood it also helps make them water resistant seeing how this is a seaplane.

Mako Color Design Template

Just in case you want to come up with your own Mako color scheme, here is a little doodle page to help. Sometimes it's easier to sketch a quick drawing of your idea than create it on a computer. If you want to make it into a print / vinyl cut file give me a shout and we will see what we can do! Thanks to Hornetnz for the idea! Hope it helps!

Of the Coast Guard Version? Not yet. I made some changes today to allow for more customization. Where insignia can go etc. I have one more dry fit test to do before production could start. I'll do a 3 view for "suggested" decal placement then.

NP, i'll just splice the pieces together. Wanted to make sure I wasnt putting a design on the wing that would get covered by the fuse.

I'm really digging what I've got so far. Will post when the concept is fulfilled!

Well I finally was able to maiden the Mako. Everything was going great for about 6-7 minutes when the motor just stopped. I landed and walked over to it as it started smoking, then I ran. Pulled the canopy off and the smoke rolled, quickly pulled out the battery and ESC, here is the aftermath. Guess I need and new ESC. The plane and everything else is fine except for some chared marks on the plane....

Maiden on land or water? If water, did you waterproof the electronics?

I was on water and land. I used corrision X on the ESC and Rx, The ESC was old. I will plug another in (cheap old one) and see if all is well before putting a new one in.

I thought the whole thing was going to burn down, that is why I started running towards it when I seen the smoke. I have cleaned the plane and it seems fine.

Here's my design idea for my Mako! Whatcha think? Will be some extra weight from lotsa paint and could be a pain to mask, but it should look pretty sweet!
