How do you make such nice long sweeping banked turns?

My Tri flys like this but usually ends in the tree or something

My second day of FPV flight with my DJI Naza Quadcopter.
I wanted to go out over the sea and over the cliffs but I'm still getting use to flying a quad and its a little un-nerving knowing if it drops from the sky it could be gone for ever, maybe next time I will be more brave

(setting the scene: I am new to flying)
I try mixing yaw and roll, but I seem to either end up going backwards at the end of it, or come to a stop.

Do I still need to be pitching forwards throughout the turn?

Thanks!

Did you crop the video? I am impressed that you managed to keep the blades out of the picture!

Ciao!

Yes. With a multi-rotor you have to hold some forward pitch angle to maintain speed
against airframe drag, including through turns. A pure yaw input will do nothing
but rotate the craft around its yaw axis while maintaining the same attitude
relative to the direction of travel (continue going the same direction, but
camera pointed somewhere else), so you generally need a roll input to
lean the craft in the direction you want to turn, and a coordinated yaw
input to point the craft in the new direction of travel.
Unlike a full scale aircraft, you can't complete a turn without using both inputs.
He pulls off "long banked turns" mainly by flying very fast. The bank angle itself
is a simple function of gravity, speed and turn radius (same as on a fixed wing aircraft/bicycle/motorcycle
/snowboard.. etc) http://www.pilotfriend.com/calcs/cal...calculator.htm

The props are above the camera and thus above the horizon. Notice that when hovering in
place the horizon is not visible at all which means he's got the GoPro itself angled way down
thus can't see the props either. It's not a view you'd want to fly through, because you can't see
where you're going, especially if going fast.
