Just keep in mind that punching up through low winter clouds/fog is at best case going to
leave your camera lens covered in water, and at worst covered in a sheet of ice.

hmmm... are we gonna need de-icers? lol... but in reality didnt think of that, Im building a high speed wing for cloud surfing, im guessing 120mph+ will add to that icing factor...

I think anyone that flies high enough to encounter icing issues has bragging rights, that should almost be a scout badge.

I flew so high once i got sucked into a passenger jet's engine... here's the video

Assuming nobody notices and nobody gets hurt, the first person to say that becomes the god of high altitude FPV.

Ducks and other birds have done worse.

Poor ducks

True. But do think about what daemon said. I flew thru some damp clouds once with a naked board camera - the contacts were exposed and somehow it activated the cameras OSD menu and made for a very exciting flight back to base!! Moisture is your enemy

That is a very good point, If i decided to get up to the moisture bearing altitudes I will moisture proof my camera setup... it's only prudent considering how much money has been invested in the plane.

Getting the camera wet is a lot less of an issue (especially with a cased camera)
than simply not being able to see where you're going. Icing happens almost instantly and
you'll have a nice view of nothing by grey, until the plane hits the ground. This has happened.

I barely ever post videos anymore. Mostly because I'd rather be out with my head planted in the goggles than in front of the PC, but this one was so much fun...
