I don't have issues with CG on any of my spyders.
Really you should adjust ithe battery so it takes off evenly.
That is all I have done. I fay with GOPRO, with out it and two other cameras up front.
He did have some issues. But I don't think they were frame ralated.
To many of us have this frames and don't have CG issues!

Probably does change the cg depending on how you have your equipment and how heavy your battery is. I would guess the cg will fall somewhere between the circle and x mine flies fine with or without the GoPro. probably depends on motors, props and a lot of other factors. Just do what you have to do to make it fly great for you. I really like this frame.

The CG issue of asymmetric frames is being hotly debated on many threads at the moment. I suppose the beauty of the spider type frame is the ability to move the battery around and attache an detach cameras etc. Experiment until the flight feels right and that is about where the CG should be. Wanting to dip forward or back is a sure sign its not right. Flight controllers don't seem to critical to their positioning though if too far from off it will upset things. I had it explained to me as. the frame will yaw around a point looking around the center of the motors. Immagine the flight board on a pole mounted a foot in front of the front motors. Now spin the frame. the accelerometers will now see rotation as sideways acceleration, and induce roll correction. Pitching forward will be seen as vertical acceleration, etc etc.

That is true, but really the board is not to concerned with 2-5 inches off!
You should always test you quads, before you start poruing lots on money on it!

A spider frame can be square and have the cg and controller mounted perfectly centered. It is the ones that are designed around existing equal length arms that have to compromise. The DJI SpyderQuad Upgrade would be more "square" with some F330 arms up front... You'd probably need 8 inch props to keep them out of the camera view.

Dialfonzo, the 250mm FPV spider is looking good. Could you do something with the FC cover to free up more space on the front deck to mount an 808 camera? Maybe 2 standoffs at the front and a single one at the rear? I was thinking on the FC cover you could put some little spikes on either side in line with the CG to make it easy to check the effects of equipment placement. Pick it up by the spikes and if it hangs level you know you are good to go.

Attached is a pic of my 200mm nano spider mocked up with full sized FPV board camera, 808 keychain cam, and a full sized 200mw 5.8G TX. The little quad is perfectly balanced around the FC board which is centred in the frame. Yes it will carry all the weight at less than half throttle. It is a cool little frame, but I think a 250mm one would be perfect for my needs, more room, swing bigger props and be less finicky to tune.

I mean i t was not tilting forward with or without and no change in CG was made between the two flight.

I was using Multiwii in Gyro only mode.

On the picture the green line are all the same lenght.
This is interesting, I can see what you are saying, but I feel we are both wrong. Thinking about it, the quad will not care if the motors are close together or far apart, as far as the cg goes, unless they are close enough together to loose efficiency, or angled as in a v-tail. In this instance is it fair to assume that all motors will/should contribute equally to lift. So ... I suggest the CG "should" be approximately half way between the front and rear motors. What do you think ??

Hello mark, these things were discussed about 10 or 15 pages ago.
Those of us that are ready to buy this kit, may seem short with you because your holding up progress!
LOL!
I had to say it guys. I am happy with the way the 250 looks.
Print it and ship two to me and Jsflyrv.
The rest of you can discuss tell your blue in the face. I am ready to setup my 250 Spyder!
After that lets make the new G-10 arms for the spyder!
It could look like the 250's arms.
Also I would like to make some special request as normal. Hahahaa!
Well you know they are coming!

Be sweet once you get your CNC sorted.

What is the bare frame weight? Also how much width is there inside the arms for the esc's?

I will get you exact information but what i can say is that the two standoffs that hold the landing-brace are 0.75" so the cavity is 0.5" by 0.75" i will confirm the length.

I will weight it tomorrow at work since i have yet buy one.. 8-)

The cnc will be ok.. I can cut it in the ild one also. It's more a problem of not having g10 on hand now.
