Spent time working on the flying stab set up today. I have used this set up before on several other builds and it is rock solid every time. I routed out a slot for the carbon tube and slotted the stab for the ply support guides before cutting the stab sides loose from the center section.

Next I glue in the ply guides. While doing this you want to make sure everything lines up flat and level for both stabs.

Tomorrow, I will line up the stab from wing tip to wing tip as well as make sure they are level with the wing before gluing the assembly into the elevator slot in the rear of the fuse.

I'm really digging the size of this build.

Thanks Walt, Thanks Joe.

Spackled over the carbon rod slot. The slot was deeper than the thickness of the carbon tube by 1/8" so that I could cover the tube in the stabs.

Got the stab assembly lined up side to side as well as parallel to the wing plane. It's now epoxied in place.

Here's a pic of the A6 with the rudder setting in place. The green mat underneath it is 39".

I am also seriously considering adding rudder capability as well.

I built one of those back when. It flew well, wish I had today's technology to use in it. I don't have the plans. It was quite some time ago. The nose you see on the workbench is an Air Sally fiberglass nose for the Venom F-86 70mm EDF. I scuffed the foam nose up on a landing when the nose gear collapsed. This will clean it up nicely when I get the time to install it and paint it.

Carving the canopy is taking some time. Got side tracked painting a room we are remodelling in my house. Have to keep the wife happy. This means A6 time tonight.

I have the canopy and turtle deck better than rough sanded. I will still need to apply light spackle and WBPU to smooth it out, but its good for now. I need to pick up some magnets to complete the canopy assembly. Next on to the rudder and ailerons.

And yes, this baby's gonna have a refueling probe when I'm done!
