historically, we have long been about recommending well matched airframes: they balance, have the power needed, perform as expected. As has long been the case, many people tweak to their liking, and this will continue, but the "best well rounded performance" will be a smidge lighter than what we typically used in the 72" Extra or the 70" Slick. It's this well-rounded performance that people usually expect from our airframes, and is what Ben was recommending... something easy to set up, balance easily, and perform as expected.
As to whether or not one needs to be careful with a DL30... I haven't seen such a setup fly or have flown personally. I'll have to do some digging as to what can be abused... but it's easy to comment that extremely powerful setups need to pull some punches on downlines and things; more power and heavier weight are things that will gang up on you if you're not wary. But as the video shows on the site, that's the DL30 right there... |

You might PM Rotorjockey and get his comments, I'm pretty sure he had a 68" Velox with a DLE 30 that he put many flights on. I can't recall personally seeing him fly that combo, but judging from his flights that I have witnessed, I don't think he would own anything that he had to fly cautiously.

KM please do as I have a DLE 30 and this will be a factor in which plane I buy.
From what I understand the Velox is a much better knife edger. I'm some what disabled and can be very sloppy in the air. I've also been thinking of the Slick but boy the blue color scheme has really caught my eye. Still I know it's not the looks of a plane but how it flys. Thats why really its the Edge, Velox, Slick. So for a handicap person it's really which one can Harrier, and KE the easiest and take alot of throttle abuse. |
