I looked up those low dropout voltage regulators and they're only rated for 1A so, I'm guessing you would need at least two of them to power your whole plane. I believe you said it drew 2.8A at 12v so, I'm guessing a bit over 1A at 9v. Any ideas what the "always on" circuit draws?
