We can work that out...I fly at RAMS, about 15-20 mins from King RC. We have several nightflyers in the club...

I did the maiden flight on the Kadet today. It flew great. 4000mah 4 cell on motor and 2600 3 cell on lights. The only prop I had on hand was 14X4 wide, for a 4 stroke. It produced adequate power but a real electric prop would be better. The Kadet still flew light and floaty, cruzing at half throttle. She was a bit tail heavy so a 5000 and 3000 battery will be just about right.

The battery access hatch worked OK but if I did it again, I would lengthen the nose area and put a hatch in the bottom of the nose. You could strap the batteries to the hatch and then just put it on.

The ailerons work great. The roll rate is still very slow at the inverted part of a roll. The Kadet is just not made for it. Rudder is very effective.

Landing gear needs to be a bit bigger.

Now for a night maiden!

I looked up those low dropout voltage regulators and they're only rated for 1A so, I'm guessing you would need at least two of them to power your whole plane. I believe you said it drew 2.8A at 12v so, I'm guessing a bit over 1A at 9v. Any ideas what the "always on" circuit draws?

Yes it was a bit windy that day.

Now that I know it flies, I have been working on the landing light and the lasers for the wing tips. I am going to rotate the RX switches on the connection board so their servo wires are right over the receiver, making the wiring neater.

I would like to get a night flight in this weekend. Anyone want to come out????

Barn, that's one good looking kadet, I am also in the process of building a night kadet for the 2013 Nall. One question what is the amp draw with your lights on ?

Everything at full brightness, landing light on, is about 3 amps. I plan on running the lasers off the balance tap, one cell. They pull about 400ma each so about 3.8 amps with both lasers on. The landing light and lasers would not be on at the same time. I have not decided on a dimmer for the "always on" circuit. It would need to dissipate about 4 watts. The always-on pulls about 1.8 amps.

I have both wings rough out so my father can start wiring in the LEDs on the wing. Right now I am in Cleveland Ohio @ the Cleveland Clinic under going a medical trial. I leave for home tomarow so Wednesday I well be back to building.
