Any idea where the new Wytheville field is?

We are looking at 3 different fields, all on private land. We are weighing the options to see which one we will have the longest term relationship with.

I've been looking at moving for a month or two now and I may end up closer to Wytheville than the other fields in the area. I hope they find a field that allows night flying. Seems like those are fairly rare for some reason.

I really like how this is turning out. I am really looking forward to how you handle wire management with the addressable LEDS...That's allot of wire to keep looking neat, more than you find in some giant scale aircraft.

I know that in the 35% Extra I had, there were far less leads than in any on my current nightflyers....

The cable from the wing will have two of the Hitec six pin connectors as mentioned earlier and two servo extensions. These will plug directly to the connection board. It's hard to see in the pic but I have some .1 spacing headers on the board I will use to connect all the wiring from the tail, fuselage, and maybe a landing light. I will crimp servo connectors to all the fuse and tail wiring which will plug onto the headers. Power coming onto the connection board will be either a EC3 or a Deans. The connection board will have to be made with connectors, not hard wired, for easy access and maintenance. If I hook it all up and it works correctly the first time it will be a miracle.

Flash back to when the stab was being built.......

I am sure the Kadet designer knows more than I do, but, it looks like the stab needed at least two more sticks so it would have more area to glue to on the fuse. Just the one strip of wood down the middle does not attach to much of the fuse. If I ever build another Kadet I will add some wood to the stab to make it easier to mount on the fuse.

Added some cross pieces to have more area to glue to. I plan on using 30 minute epoxy.

Now I have made all the wire attachments on the tail, 6 separate pairs, braided together to form one cable to the attachment board. I test fit the stab at least ten times and got the elevator push rod installed and braced up. Small wood screws will be used to pull the stab down tight while the glue dries.

Wish I had a extra set of hands....

One more mock up and measure before the glue hits. Only get one chance.

Crimped servo connectors on the empennage cable and they plug onto a board header. Got the majority of the connection board wired, enough to test the empennage lights. It all works!

Finished the wing cable and all the RGB wiring on the connection board. Also put in a header for the "always on" circuits, like in the fuse and leading edge of the wing. With everything on full bright it draws 2.8 amps.

Fully assembled. Landing gear and tail gear mounted. Main gear may need to be taller. Had to make a spot for the batteries to be mounted and tied down. Used a 4000mah 4 cell for the motor and a 2600mah 3 cell for the light system. Any less battery and it will be tail heavy. I put long standoffs on the motor for more leverage against the tail heavy condition. Balance is right on the main spar now. Ready for a test flight!
