Help!
deformed nose cone

Hi Group,

I was trying to get some dings out of my edf (starmax f18) with very hot water and ended deforming my nose cone. I've cut it off the fuselage and I would like to know if you guys have any tips on getting it's shape back.

Thanks,
RC

hello RC
I usually take the damaged nose cone and fill with gorilla glue then add light wall putty to fill in and shape outer damage after gorilla glue is dry.Paint stick it on plane and fly!
P.S. I have started filling my nosecones with gorilla glue before assembly now it works great and makes for easy repairs.I read this someplace and its a great idea

For flimsy plastic cones ... as my Lanyu - I cover in same colour insulating tape. This prevents the cone shattering, you can with hand put back to shape ...

I thought about foam filling - but we are always looking to remove weight from nose of most models.

Air Sally makes a fiberglass replacement. After I dinged up the stock one, I sent him a fresh one to make a mold. Ended up with a few glass ones and wouldn't ya know it, I've never needed another replacement. It's definately a worthy part to get. Just send him a PM.

+1 on Air Sally's nose cone. Had it on my 70mm Starmax for several years, and not the slightest problem

Hey Air Sally

Do you happen to have a nose cone for the 70mm starmax F5E? Mine deformed sitting in the sun at the flying field.
