Question
How are NTM prop drive 2826 motors?

I've asked this question in some other threads after hijacking them, but I got entirely contrasting replies.

So, I'm planning a quad that will weigh 1600g. (AUW)
Frame: scratch-build from aluminium and fiberglass.
8" or 9" props. (or 10" if needed)
Turnigy Plush 30A ESCs

I plan to use CRIUS MultiWii SE

I want a stable, powerful quad, with a capability to lift some 100g extra. (if possible)

Are these NTM prop drive 2826 motors suitable? Which one is better, 1000kv or the 1350 kv variant?

EDIT: I'll be using them on a 4S LiPo (~2200mAh 30C or 3000mAh 30C)
Thanks,
Vineet

you would want the 1000kv ones, but nether of them generate enough thrust(<1000g).

these have more thrust:

I have the 1350s on two machines; a 900g 450mm quad and my new flying car (not finished).

On the quad they are amazing, but they are quite power hungry. 8045 props and 25A plush ESCs. I've lifted 2.5kg with this quad (in addition to its 900g AUW), and I think it could lift another few hundred grams. It does need a high C battery, 45-50C 3S 2200mAh.

On the flying car (will post an update as soon as my chassis arrives from HK), I have a similar setup but with HK SS 20A ESCs & 3S 5500mAh.

They are powerful motors, and very well made. The only thing to watch out for is power consumption.

@sirbow2

But I feel they're little heavy. But suitable for use on a 3s. Thanks for the links.

On 4S you'll be getting ~300W per motor. Are you trying to lift a car?

At those power levels, the quality of the battery and props becomes really important. The stress on those components is huge.

No, I don't want to lift any car. The weight might go up because I want a really strong, sturdy (and a little sophisticated) frame, with FPV, (and maybe a self-made gimbal-like structure) and other glitter.

If it goes to ~300W on a 4S, can I reduce the prop-size (to maybe 8") so as to reduce the power to ~260W?
I plan to use APC props and LiPo from Hobbyking.

Thanks,
Vineet

I did try my 450mm quad on 4S, AUW 900g, with 8045 props, and it was pretty much uncontrollable. Hovered at very low throttle, and smallest stick movement sent it shooting up into the air. I suspect it would have been quite nice at ~2kg.

yeah, ha, those should be fine on 4S. i almost hate choosing a motor because some of them have so little prop/thrust data

I ordered NTM 2826 1200kv and 9047 props. Will use a 4s LiPo, AUW will be around 1200-1300g.
Will post results. Thank you all!

Those motors are sweet as. Unfortunately you have to buy from HK, the evil oligarchy of this hobby.

In my experience, those motors have too high Kv and power for 4S. Its not a good choice I am sorry.

Dont worry, the motors are great motors, Try it and see how you go, but I am predicting that you will need to swap the props to 8x4.5 or 7x3.5 to salvage the decision.
Failing that, use 8x4.5 props with a 3S battery and you have a winsauce motor/prop combo.

Lol, but I too suspected that. So I also bought a cheap 2200mAh 3s. Thanks for the advice. I know with this setup the quad will be too agile for a noob, but I hope I can control it..
