SH-6043 Mini Quad~Mini Review

Check this little guy I just spotted on www.myrcmart.com

http://www.myrcmart.com/sh-6043-lady...ed-p-4808.html

RTF for 49$ I'm very tempted to get one. Can't go wrong at that price. The TX seems quite nice, too, and I like the little legs looking landing skids on it.

Best,
Chris

I don't think so, but I'm not certain.

Anyways... I couldn't help it. I'm getting one. It shipped today. I shall report.

Chris

Mini Review

Alright guys and gals. I have had this little quad for a few days and I have some videos to share and a small review. The first video is 10 minutes of talking followed by 6 minutes of flying. The second video is indoor flying and the third video is outdoor flying.

First impressions:

Seems very decently built. The arms are painted so I'm not sure what material they are made of. Probably carbon fiber. The canopy is nice and detailed and it attaches to pins sticking up from the frame. That's a nice feature. It's easy to pop on and remove, yet, it's stays on there nice and tight. No vibration. The quad has legs like skids and they flex a lot so this is very nice protection for the motors during hard landings. This thing is tiny. It flies well, it's agile, responsive, quick and very stable. But more importantly, it's ready to fly for 50$. That's very inexpensive. I think it's nice to see little models like this emerge on the market as it allows getting into the hobby without spending a fortune. Plus, this little guy is a nice flyer! I crashed a few times and it seems quite durable, too. So first impressions are very good, and the price is right.

Specs:

- 8.8mm motor to motor
- weight: very light (didn't weigh it, sorry.)
- 3 axis gyro
- dual rates
- acrobatic mode and normal mode
- 4 channels radio with LCD screen
- flight time: 6-8 minutes with stock battery (280mAh)

The Radio:

It looks like a X-Box controller. It's actually quite ergonomic. It has a USB port for charging batteries. It has ailerons, elevator and rudder trims, dual rates and a button to invoke acro mode. The LCD display shows your trims settings, flight mode and it also shows battery voltage using numerical values. Everything is there, basically, but it's really nice to have dual rates and acro mode at the push of a button, and the battery meter is fancy as it displays the exact voltage in increments of 0.1 volts. The cyclic stick is a bit stiff for my liking, though, but I'm used to flying a Devo radio with the stick tension set to minimum. It took me a few flights getting used to it but I'm getting the hang of it now.

Flight characteristics:
Excellent bang for your bucks. One should not expect this model to fly like the famous Ladybird by Walkera, but I'll tell, it's darn close once you get used to the radio. It's fast and it capable of flying in pretty strong wind. In fact, the outdoor video shown below is achieved through pretty nasty wind gusts. Going full forward, mine veers to the left mildly, and full backward it veers to the right mildly. Not much at all, though. Not enough to require correcting it, actually. Just a tiny bit. The yaw response is good and fairly aggressive. So no issues with yaw control at all. In windy conditions, I get slight oscillation when recovering from aggressive moves or when a strong gust of wind pushed the craft in hover. No oscillation during fast forward flight, though, and just fine indoor. The oscillation is mild, anyways, and really not an issue. Overall, I'm quite impressed with the performance of this little bug. You'll get a better idea when you watch the flight videos.

The good:

- fast and agile
- apparently durable - crashed mine a bunch of times - no damage
- dual rate and acrobatic mode
- easy to fly, stable and responsive
- inexpensive $

Thew bad:

- Cyclic stick on the radio is stiff and it took me a few flights to get the hang of it.
- Very small so hard to see if you stray too far outdoor.

Final word:

Excellent bang for your bucks. Great entry model that can fly indoor and outdoor, and good fun even for intermediate and advanced pilots. It certainly is giving the original Ladybird a good run for its money. Literally.

Here are some videos. Hope you enjoy them and happy flying, all.

Best,
Chris

The model I reviewed sells for 42$ on that site, actually. Problem is I don't know them from a whole in the ground, and plus, I don't really like buying a model from a company that sells everything from lingerie to computers, to sex toys. I'll stick with trusted and well established RC stores.

Best,
Chris

No. Comes with Walkera style plugs, whatever they are called. I don't know the name of them.

Yes, I was talking about the blue one. There's an 8% coupon (VOTEOFF) that's good for the next 4 days. Like Chris, I usually buy from a hobby vendor like Miracle-mart (who I've had good luck with), but these new quads seem to be on all the big sites (like Banggood). I've purchased other stuff from Everbuying before without a problem.

Edit - The coupon doesn't work with with the lower priced one, so it's not such a great deal after all.

Problem with these websites is they don't have a single employee capable of testing RC models. They are not specialists. Myrcmart tests every model before they ship them, in fact, they return about 5% of all TXs and helis/quads they receive from major manufacturers. They don't ship lemons to us, they ship the lemons back to the factories where they came from. That, to me, is worth a few dollars more, for sure. I know when my model arrives, it will be good to go. I think of few extra dollars as paying for labor cost for having my model tested before it is shipped to me

I don't even remember EVER reading a bad comment about myrcmart on this forum. Only folks who have "good luck" with them. Well, I don't think it's good luck. I think it's because they know what they're doing. RC business is their livelihood and they take care of business accordingly. Unlike websites who sell everything from toilet paper to electronics, they simply can't afford to ship a malfunctioning rc models.

But if people want to take their chances buying rc models from amateurs, then that's their prerogative.

Best,
Chris

This kind of makes my point, I think. You are active in the WL929 thread. It seems most posters bought their 929 from banggood. Did you not read the multiple complaints about that website about this one single model? People order a 939 and they receive a 929. People wait forever to get their order and the tracking number may not even be the right one they sent you. People order a specific color and they get a different color. People in the US receive EU chargers while people in EU receive US chargers. Saving 5 or 10 dollars is simply not worth taking the risk with these amateurs, in my opinion. People only look at the price tag, but man, you get what you pay for, I believe. Now some peeps may say they had a good experience and got what they ordered, on time. Of course, but quite clearly it's a gamble. I don't like to gamble when I buy a model, because when you gamble, you can win but you can also lose.

Best,
Chris
