Love what you've done for the motors! It makes such a difference from a plywood firewall with an electric motor mounted to it!

If you ever open the Morgan Museum of Flight, I will most definitely come and check it out!!!

J, the details on your AC 119 are soooo cool.

Here are pictures from Tinker AFB in Oklahoma.

Thanks Hawk

Thanks for the pics Hans!

Thanks Walt

Ace,
Keith has several plastic motors in his inventory. This one is about 4.75" across, I also got a bigger one for the A-1, it will get the same treatment. I'll use my airbrush to tone down the colors a bit, the colors are a bit too stark right now but we'll fix that.

Hey J, Walt, Bryan, Jeremy and Dean... just spent the evening with the boyz from MIchigan. Dan and Will from Ready2Hobby are here in Columbus for the JR indoor flight festival. They have a booth set up for the event. We got together for dinner and told SEFF stories for hours. It was a good time.
They asked me to give you guys a shout out........." SHOUT OUT "

It does have some firepower Nut, I would hate to get in it's path.

Hey Woody,
I thought something must have been going on, my ears were burning last night!!! Sounds like you guys had a great time. Sure would have been nice to join you guys so you couldn't lie about the rest of us. I sort of feel like being on Survivor, you guys win an award challenge and are whisked off for a big meal and then at the meal all you do is talk bad about those that didn't get to go!!

Finished repairing the sheared landing gear plywood yesterday. I glued it back and mounted the gear with 8-32 bolts and blind screws instead of screws. I figure the next time it comes out that it will rip the whole mounting off. Seriously, that should take care of it.
Now I'm back on the gear doors, at least one of them. I had noticed in flight pics that one door seemed to be hanging down. Well, we had powered up the rec and aired the tank up with the switch in the wrong position. 29 lbs came crashing down on the gear doors. Lucky it only screwed up one servo. So that needs to be addressed too before moving on. And the doors work but I'm not happy with how flimsy they seem and the pushrods seem to have slop. Need to check all that out.

You're right J! You have to be present to defend yourself around those guys. Just look at what Will did to Bryan's hammer!

I don't think he will ever forgive Will for that hammer "action"

Working on the gear doors. Want to give them some strength. Used 1/16" balsa cross grain to line the inside. Really stiffened it up. The doors work but this plane flies so well that it deserves the time to tweak everything.
I replaced the front screws on the retract unit with 8-32 bolts and blind nuts. No room to get to the blind nut to screw it on and hold it. Made a little tool to use to start the blind nut. A piece of balsa with a flat magnet glued on to it. Worked great.

I'm glad you are working on those doors! I noticed in one of the video's that the starboard gear door didn't look like it was up. Is that the one?

I love the balsa support, it gives the doors a more realistic look! You continue to impress!

I agree Hawk, gives them some dimension.
The starboard outer door servo was screwed up when she went down on her belly. When we lifted it back up and put the gear down the door was in the down position and looked alright. Duh. It never closed during the flight, I didn't realize it until I saw the still inflight pics.
And the doors are no longer flimsy, really stiffens them up.

I've been MIA here due to business. Made a quick trip to Wyoming and have more yet to do.
But I haven't quit on the build, just have some things that need to be done before I can concentrate. Will do a little work today on the 119 but the rest of the week will probably be shot due to the same issues.
Hopefully by next week I can get back on track.
