Thanks guys, this is the fun part but pretty tedious. Started the Minguns this morning, they are smaller and harder than the Gatlings!
![]() You don't miss anything, do you Daryl? ![]() Actually those are printed sheets off the net with info on the Gatling and Minguns. Must have been a German site. And no big secret on the next build. Hans had sent me plans a couple of years ago for an A-7 Corsair II. It was 1/12th scale but I decided on 1/8th. So he just sent me new plans in the 1/8th scale. What a guy! And it will be in the Pusher Jet Forum, no damned EDF for this guy. But there is another gunship on my list a little down the road. ![]() Got to read about 15 pages in the new book while waiting in the dentist office today. Wow, what a great book and great pics too. Little excerpt: The Air Force gave Fairchild the contract to convert the 119 to a gunship, both G & K models. They did the Gs first and the AF had specified a minimum climb rate on one engine of 200ft/min in case one lost an engine on takeoff. After converting them they found that the climb rate on one engine was a NEGATIVE! Had to take them back in for lightening, more expense and the AF almost cancelled the Gunship II project over it. Can you imagine knowing that if you lost an engine on takeoff it was a sure thing you were going down? I would suspect it would be hard to keep morale up. ![]() ![]() J |

You can mention EDF all you want Jeremy, won't make any difference.
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I do think those might be the same plans as Woody's, he may pop in here and say. His build was a real looker!! J |

Herman,
Nothing against the EDF guys at all. Just more power needed, heavier batts = more weight, yada, yada, yada. Dan, Daryl, Yep, retracts and doors. Guess that makes me a little bit of a hypocrite doesn't it. ![]() ![]() ![]() But in all fairness, you should be here and hear the language as I'm working on them. Russian sailors have nothing on me. ![]() ![]() ![]() Finishing up the miniguns and Gatling guns now. Pics a little later. J |

If they all had the sound of Andy's 1/4 scale T-38, then maybe it would be worth it.
![]() Here are the guns, almost done, They need a little weathering yet but you get the idea. They are just laying in there, not mounted yet. Have to relieve the mount on one bulkhead to mount the last one, hence the empty window. There are wind deflectors that go in front of the minguns and little scoops over the top of them too. I think I will go to the flare launcher, AVQ-8 searchlight, and night observation sight (NOS) since they go in the open doorways. Lots to do to the fuse and I haven't even started on the middle section yet. J |
