WR777 Flaps

Doug;

If I understand correctly the attached is your cutting sequence??

Did you use the 2.25 inch long Xacto blade for the cuts (#26 blade, I think)?

Do you have a picture of the top side of the flap after cutting it out?

All,

Here's a view of the flap servo locations- nothing special on the locations, and there is plenty of depth of the wing to accept pretty much any 9g micro servos. As I have dissassembled my daily flyer, I am using my flap servos from that- one of which is HiTec HS55 and the other is a Detrum 9g servo. Both my other 737s are the Detrums servos throughout just because they are cheap (and I am cheap).

More to come this week...

I may need to box my wing up and send it to you for improvements. Great work! Just got back from flying at the field today. One of my motors on my Freewing B-17 kind of gave up. Started to have a big alignment problem in the sky. Got it down ok.
The FedEx 777 stayed in the hanger today. Can only fit so many planes into a Tacoma!

Gary,

The cutting sequence (and hinge set up) you depict is correct- then you just epoxy the rectangular section left from cut number 3 and 4 back on to the flap, and sand the airfoil. Generally speaking, the whole cutting sequence can be done without even marring the paint pre-applied to the airplane.

Thanks for drawing that out for me.

No problem, Doug....I figure you'll have one of your computer generated drawings in your "how to" video...the one narrated by William Shatner

I tried out your method on my Tian Sheng AirBus Military A400m on another thread...I also have their C-17...so, I will do the flap mod on both planes before modding my WR777. Link: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...postcount=1636

Just looked at the C-17 flap mod pic- you nailed it Gary- that is exactly how I did the WR777 wing.

Now I'll have no more mod secrets...until I reveal the slat system on my next WR737....

WR777 Build

Almost done the painting of the 777, next comes the Cathay Pacific decal kit and the plug swap to XT60 from the red Windrider plugs and I can do my CG test.

Biggest problem will be waiting for the snow to melt before this bird makes her first flight!! Fingers crossed for a early spring or the gear will be swapped out for skis! A 777 on skis would be quite the sight !

You might want to check this 64mm 10 blade rotor before changing to 70mm 12 blade edf unit's, you will still get the nice sound and a lot less work and $$

@limodune, the issue is that the nacelle itself broke on both sides too, and I need a new one
