This is the very same data but with ripple included.

Now correct me if I am wrong but the ripple should be no higher than 2V? Please have a look at these results. I see nothing wrong here.

You need to take the average ripple and divide it by the average voltage of the run and it needs to be under .05. If you have anything close to .05 or higher, you could have a problem. Be sure to box the run as not to include the data sitting idle.

I had been thinking about filling some of the cavities in the fuse with spray foam. Sounds like many had tried this with less than sub par results and others managed to make it work.
It is a waste of weight. The vertical stabs are already filled with foam, that's why they are so heavy, i removed it and it made quite a difference.

0.015 is the average ripple I calculated for just the first 50 seconds of the graph. And I agree with you about the added weight of the foam.

Well then your ripple is perfect. Be sure to keep that number as your baseline, check it after every 20-30 flights and monitor it. Once it gets to .05 it's time to retire those packs.

In regards to the spray foam... Yea I think your right, I found some of it at work today and it is kind of heavy actually. I am already looking to trim the fat off this bird as it is.
And I am glad to hear my ripple is perfect!

Has anyone tried this idea? A thin sheet of FG with a slot cut down the middle to allow the strut to pass. I was thinking of painting it grey to match and tacking it down with two sided tape.

Ok so I am very near completion on this plane. I got the retracts done and I am just playing around with cosmetic stuff while I wait on a replacement speed controller. A friend and I decided to weigh the parts and pieces to get a ballpark figure on the AUW. I don't have a scale big enough or accurate enough to weigh the whole plane as one piece. So we added it all up and we got a very crude figure of 8lbs!!! This terrifies me because all you other guys got weights of 6-7 lbs and you all still think thats heavy.
I might have to reconsider the motors and batteries I have chosen and look at other options. Currently I have two 6s 3000mAh lipos and 2950kv motor on wemo fans.... I am also using Castle Lites 100A and In my research I didn't see a real difference in battery weights when I was decided on 4s, 5s, and 6s options. Less capacity, more voltage, etc etc equals the same weight in the end.
I need to go find a real scale and get an official weight. Maybe I will drag my jet into the local produce section and use that scale. lol.

private pack and ship stores always have scales at the counter. ups store, mom+pop shippers ect.... if you ask nicely most will let you weight it accurately.

You are basically running 6S 6000 batt, and that sounds heavy! May be you can try a single 6S 5000 battery? However, I notice you are pulling around 160A in total, that's way too much! You are getting 4kw in total. If you decide to got 6S, you want to keep the total current below 100A so that you can have a 4min flight time out of a 5000 mah battery.

Good point Nerv, I am looking furthur at the uses of the 2950kv motor and it was also suggested again for use on 5s in my Habu. This appeals to me because both planes would then be able to share 5s batts. My 6s batteries are too big and heavy for use in the Habu and I would like to shed weight and some rpm in the Raptor. So rather than two 3000mAh I could go with two 2500-2700 mAh lipos. Perhaps reconsidering the 5s options will work and I can fly two birds with the same stone. Lol

Not sure about the Habu, but I think a 5S 4000-5000mhn batt will work much better for ur Raptor.

Yuup, i just bought a pair of 5s lipos for my Habu so that will give me a chance to bench test them for my Raptor. I do want to use 2 batteries because a single 5s or 6s of 5000mAh simply doesn't fit through the opening of my battery bay. I'm also worried about the combined draw of the speed controllers sucking through a single pair of 12 awg battery leads. I could only imagine what the voltage sag would be like. I feel safer running each controller on it's own battery for multiple reasons.

Today I got around to soldering the new esc and the motor together. I checked for proper rotation and managed to get a mild ramp up and everything looked good.

I am now back to same point I was at almost a month ago. Now all that remains is to clear the logs and resume the bench tests so I may proceed with the final assembly. I have yet to mount the batteries for the center of gravity and do the weigh in.
