PL8 as a Voltage booster
I run a 28V, 20A military High Intensity Discharge searchlight off of 2 Series'd, 110 AH deep cycle batteries. After a fresh charge and under load, the battery voltage is steady at around 24.4. This light is not regulated in that the higher the input voltage (up to 28.5), the more light is produced - as much as a 70% increase at 27.4V vs 23.5V) Could I use the 24V PB preset at a 30 Amp charge rate to concurrently "charge" the "pack" while running the light to provide a Voltage boost without damaging the charger?
edit: Yes, I can. However, since I'm using the Iota 12V/55A PS, the charger will output only about 15 Amps due to PS low Voltage at 14.5V so charging Voltage reaches only 25.5V.

You'll likely need to actually connect a Pb battery to the charger and connect the light across the Pb. The PL will charge the battery while the light discharges it. You'll want to set the charge rate to essentially "zero" the current I think. You will also likely want to increase the timeout on the preset to the max I think.

I was not clear in my post but I connected just as you say - the PL8 to the PB and the light to the PB so the battery acts like a "translator". I need to pick up a 24V PS for more PL8 output though.
