Hi I recently purchased a IMAX b6 charger for the lipo pack I've got on order but for now I just need a quicker charge on my nimh 7.2 v 2000mah pack rather than using the crap charger I got with it, so I turn the charger on and select battery type nimh then set the charge current then I hit select for 3 seconds and it goes to the charge screen and then almost instantly beeps and says input vol err and in the little book that means erroneous voltage selection of lithium pack and to check the voltage now for a start it's a nimh battery using the nimh program and it won't even give me the option to select any voltage?! Please somebody help I'm just no good at this stuff.

I've never had that happen with nimh packs on my B6. What charge current are you charging at?

Well I've not been given a specific current but it's a 2000mah so it says in the book 2A for 84 min but I just get an alarm after a few seconds and it says input vol err.

what is being used to power the charger. Thats the input to the charger error.

maybe try charging at a lower current?

I'm using a 12v ac/dc universal power pack and in the book it says the error means erroneous voltage of lithium pack and check pack voltage? It doesn't mention the anything about the dc input Also if I lower the charge current to 0.1 A it will charge to the time limit

How many amps is the power pack. Try another power supply if you can. Or if you can measure the DC output voltage from the supply you have.

I've hooked it up to a car battery and it's fine I don't think the power pack I'm using has enough amps to support the charger

A PC Power supply mod is inexpensive alot of how to's on internet. Big and bulky.
A Playstation 3 power supply is a lot less work and also inexpensive from fleEbay. I use this one nice and small'ish
An Xbox 360 supply has been used also.Don't know how to do this one, but have seen it.
Or you could just buy a normal supply but i think they are expensive.
If you go for ps3 there is lots of power outputs. I have a list of them somewhere.

This power supply has been out of stock for quite a while at Hobbypartz, but it is a good quality PSU for the money. It has more than enough power to supply your B6.

This one is the HobbyKing equivalent. Roughly the same price and specs.

Thanks for the advice guys, What ampage am I looking at here? My friend has lots of power packs lying around and it's a very common fitting so hopefully hes got one with a bit more juice.

you'll want one with at least 75Watts if they are all 12V. Running lower could over heat the supply when charging.
