Depron Short Sunderland

Hi Guys,

long time ago when I finished my Depron "Shord Sunderland" build from a plan from Peter Angus I promised to make a video from that beauty. Well yesterday I remembered my about that and here it is.

When I was on active duty in the Navy, I was on the USS Canberra, which was home ported at the 32d Street Naval Base in San Diego. At that time, the Navy was still flying Marlin seaplanes based on North Island. When I would be standing watch on the Canberra, I could see the Marlins taking off in the harbor. Your Sunderland takeoffs look just like those Marlins did. Outstanding job!!!

Thanks for pointing to the original plan set, too!

I am very pleased to see your Sunderland performing well.

Why did you keep us waiting so long?

Let's see some slow straight & level in the next video.

Worth waiting for! What a beauty!

Hi Rudi, Guys,

Rudi, congratulations mate.
That was well worth the wait, what a super job you have made from Mr Angus's plans, well done Sir. She has all the grace and character of the Original Sunderland. I am now looking at old 'MBF' sat just 3 feet above my head on the shelf, just the fuselage is sea worthy and she is thick with dust, what a disgrace to flyingboating I am.
I must get off my arse and get her new wings built, and my original 'Puddle' finished, too many jobs, not enough hours!
Again, fabulous to see your Sunderland in the air, from the water of course.

Cheers,

regards to all,

Al

Hi Al,

many thx. Hope you remember, my projects have all very long durations
To be honest, after the first trys with the small motors and 2S Lipos I get fear that the Sunderland will not fly powerful enough and so she get back in the hangar. After a visit of my friend Bernhard (Belt Pilot) this year I desc. to remaiden her again and that is the result, a wonderful scale flying model . I corrected some mistakes I made (to thin motor cables, changed two Props. to left runners and now she flies perfect. Hope I can made a new video with some slowflying sequences. I also think to add. flaps and a light system, but this is future music The sunderland need no flaps but the are looking real good !
Hope I can motivate you to bring yours back in b.

Greetings from upper austria
