Lost Spitfires found in crates in Burma

http://www.worldwarbirdnews.com/2012...urn-to-the-uk/

I hadn't seen this here yet. If it has been posted already, forgive me.
This is too cool! They are still in their shipping containers, buried all this time. Wow!

Cool Story ... where's (sic) the photos?

A friend emailed me with this (or similar) information a couple of months ago, and it appears that this is either the same story or no progress has been made in digging the spitfires up. I wonder if the buried spitfires have been exhumed yet, and if so, where are the photographs???? This is such a cool story, I'd think that the entire aviation world would be anxiously awaiting news on the condition etc. of the buried Spitfires. If this story is legit, I'd think that we'd have either seen some photos by now or some reason why the planes haven't been dug up yet (just sayin').

Cheers,
Grog

Probably keeping it quiet until the group gets down there and digs them up. Last thing you want is to get back out there and find a bunch of empty holes

Having been part of a similar enterprise in PNG in the early 70s I can assure you it is pretty important to keep things fairly confidential until the recovery is physically underway at least.
