Thanks owl-hows the sportster? get to fly it yet?Got some done on the fleet before work this morning, one forward fuse side has the doubler glueing up under 10liters of water filled soda bottles.I used 1/16" hard balsa placed cross grain for most of the doubler with a1/16" ply insert where the wing bolt block will be to save a bit of weight. The works is glued with elmers newest wizz/bang wood glue wich is the reason for the 10liter press. The idea at this point is to build one side and copy it to get a mirror image for the other one.I need to dig out some aluninum and make up the rib pattern for the wing so I have it to cut the wing sadle area.

I forgot to bring the card with the photos and will post them later, the sides are joined to the first three formers and 3 layers of 1/16" sheet is drying on the tube to later be laminated to form the front hatch and planking.

Front top sheet is done and will be left to dry for a few days before the hatch is cut.The cockpit opening is roughed out,so its time to start on the cowl.

I've been cutting wood like a rabid beaver, the cowl is shaped and the rear bulkhead fitted along with a mid point bulkhead to hold the fuse square. The bottom 1/4" sheet will be added later to give me room to drill the dowel holes at the front of the wing.I took some time this morning to take the modified skylark out for a bit.Powered by an e flite 25 and two 2100ma 3 cell lipos and a 12x7 apc prop the thing will move right out but still lands slow enough to keep me out of trouble. If the warden will let me I plan to finish what I can of the fuse today, the nose gear and bracket have yet to show up but I should be able to finish the rear deck and most of the sanding.

Very little can compare to the feeling you have after all the extra parts of wood are knocked off and what you're left with is something like that! It's sometimes tough for me to "see" the shape inside the wood blocks and get it out of there. Looks like you did it! Nice work, Rab.
