Hi all!,

i am very interested to include the "fixed altitude" mode with a barometer in the configuration of the multiwii firmware for a airplane or a wing?? anyone has tested it? This implementation means take the PID controls for motor and elevators to keep altitude.

If someone know how ,,, contact me please!

Hi Christian,

Would you please re-generate your pdf mMWC-HowtoGuide_V1.1.pdf as it's toUnicode map is corrupted or missing. The V1.0 is fine, though.

See this for reference: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3977991

Here's the video

Raptor FPV with MultiWii (mMWC shield) - Dynamic PID attenuation test (5 min 59 sec)

During the takeoff the PID are attenuated to almost 30%

You can see in the clip the aileron wobble during an high speed dive (135km/h) and then eliminated by lowering the PIDs with the tx knob.

During the landing approach the speed was very low (less than 30km/h)

The Raptor FPV needs some more PID and mechanical tweaks to get the optimum performance

wow, pretty impressive.
unfortunatly not that much high speed flights.

well, not sure, but did you slow down the video?
especially the landing seems like slow motion to me.

No video slowdown, it's the original gopro file just cutted to shorten the clip duration

During the landing approach I've activated the flaps (5mm down) and put the PIDs to the max.

With a little flaps deflection and the mMWC all the landings are in "slowmotion"

You can 'drive' the plane at slow speed without loosing command authority

I'll post another landing so you can see what I mean

You can obtain the same thing if you cranck up the I parameter of the PIDs (it acts like the 'heading hold' behaviour of an hely gyro)

I've another video with high speed low passes (very nice) , but the PIDs values differs from the ones used in this flight

Note: in this flight I've used the GYRO MODE only with the gyro stabilization on the rudder turned off
Next weekend I'll tune and try the multiwii HORIZON mode too (better than ANGLE mode for airplanes)

Ciao

@luca: can you please remove/change the audio track of the video.
seems it does not play in some contries due to UMG copyright limitations :-(

very good. thanks a lot.

I like the fact that you tweaked the code for manual PID attenuation via AUX.
Is this actually the reason why the plane in the video at approx. 3:43 starts wobbling? I guess you changed the attenuation at that moment and the PID got a bit too high, or have there been some strong wind gusts?

greetings from vienna,
christian

Exactly!!

I've pushed the PIDs to the max and then start to dive just to show how the PID attenuation works...

As soon as the plane starts to wobble (too much gain for that speed) I've reduced (via the knob) the gain

In this way you can have the right amount of gain for the different plane speed.
