It's a pussy cat, not a penguin

Maiden'd the Penguin today, with nothing but a Guardian 2D/3D on board. What fun, and such a pussy in the air. Glides too. I'm happy. Will put some FPV on board next. Then someone's autopilot - likely either ardupilot or RVOSD. One last time - this Penguin's a bomb to fly. Perfect for the task. Such a pussy cat too.

Sounds good! We need to get an Ohio FPV meet organized sometime.

Thanks, that's what I wanted to know. And just to be clear, that was WITHOUT any wing mods?
Best,
Steven

GoPro Hero 3

You guys can try this out with your new plane...http://gopro.com/cameras/hd-hero3-black-edition
GoPro claims, Smaller, lighter and 2X more powerful. Of course, $399 is no object for a true FPV enthousiast.

Don't know of anyone who's needed to do any adjustments to the stock wings. Out of the box it's ready to go. I did reenforce the elevator with a thin spar but I had an early model with none added.

Hmmm, I find it odd there are not more flight reports yet. I would have thought these planes would have sold like hot cakes and there would be tons of posts about it.

I agree. There have been a lot sold, but people seem to be taking their time getting them in the air. Or they just don't post about it.

Guess I am just slow.
And the WX isn't helping.

I was planning on getting mine in the air this weekend, but I spent 3 hours completing and troubleshooting wiring issues and lost ground. The timing of the release of this plane is unfortunate. Early summer would have been ideal for me.

Would anyone care to hazard a guess at the maximum flight time of this bird?

Also, if you had the right power setup and a skilled pilot, do you think the Penguin could do this?

Flight times are very subjective to how you are flying. I believe Calidave flew for around 30 minutes on a 3300 pack when trying for long flight time. Again, it will depend on your payload, battery capacity, what amps you run at, and more. I don't go for the super long flight times because I get bored easily and don't always fly efficiently.

I don't see why the penguin wouldn't be able to do the things in your video with the power and skill.

OR

waiting for the rest of the FPV components to arrive or are on back ordered. Waiting for my Dragon Link RC.

I need some assistance on a GPS extension cable for a RVOSD. Looking for at least 25" in length. From the mount on the penguin tail to the front is quite a ways.

The connector I believe is a 5 pin JST and a 6 pin JST but finding the connector is next to and beyond my knowledge. Any help would be appreciated from those in the know how.

I am not sure why Range Video does not carry a variety of cable length. Maybe RMRC can step in, at least from the Penguin point of view.

Question

I have a question.
In the end of the manual (page 6, and page 2) I noticed a small rear spar in the wings.
I don't have anything like that. Not installed in the wings, or anything in the box.
Is that something I should have? Does anyone else have that?
I would think that it would help if it was there.
Jim
