Build Log
Sig Kadet

Hello all,
Started a Sig Kadet build. I haven't built in awhile. Thought I would butcher some balsa.
Downloaded the plans and printed on a plotter.

Got the fuse sides cut out and tommorrow I will add the 1/4 square stingers, the 1/4 by 1/2 inch stringers, and the 1/8 by 1/4 stringers.
I haven't figured out how to duplicate the other side with the stinger lines. Any suggestions?

Clamp the sides together then use a pin to mark the important points through from the marked out side, join them up on the other side with a pencil and ruler and you have the correct markings for one left and one right side.

Tape the plan to a window so you can see through it (in daytime!) and mark the stringer lines on the back of the plan. Then just mark them onto the balsa in the usual way from the back of the plan.

Good luck with the build

I reversed the fuselage plan. Print this out and use this to trace the other side.

My Kadet is electric powered. I just removed the glow engine and made a firewall extension and bolted an E Flite 25 to the front. My firewall is 1/4 thick. my motor extension is made from 1/8 birch ply pieces.
I added a hatch on the bottom to house the battery pack. Easier than removing the wing.

I stuck a bunch of LED lights on the plane and now it's a night flyer.

Almost completed one side. I am having difficulty finding pre-grooved bass wood for the main landing gear.
PD1 what is the wood block above the main landing gear block made out of?

I make landing gear blocks out of layers of 1/8 plywood. Birch plywood is the best. Lite ply in a pinch, just soak the edge of lite play with CA.

1/8 is easy to cut and I glue them together with Titebond and clamp until dry.
Epoxy will also work., but I think it is messier than Titebond.

If you need other information, I'll have to go look at the plane. My plane is over 30 years old.

Hey Andy,
Sorry needed to fix my bandsaw. I cut the plywood parts out. Tried to upload pictures-but had trouble. Will post soon.
