extra antenna or dual receivers or remote receiver for FASST?

I've been working with some guys who have a very large model with lots of carbon. The other day we had some reception problems, possibly due to the carbon getting in the way. Wondering if there's a way to add extra antenna, or remote receivers (i.e. the way you can with Spectrum), or pick thebest signal from two receivers without a delay. The antennas (antennae?) could be placed a little better, but it would be comforting to have more redundancy. It's no fun when you move the stick and nothing happens. We should probably do very careful range checks from many angles, with motors on and off, as well.

Are you saying that all receivers use the same antenna connector???

This might help some, but the ideal situation with this carbon airframe would be to put the antennas on the wingtips! They're MUCH further away.

OTOH, I could see something like this being handy if I wanted to switch one of my carbon fuselage sailplanes to 2.4.

OOPS. I forgot that one should avoid the vicinity of metal buildings when using 2.4gHz. I was only 15 feet or so away from a large metal Quonset hut. So perhaps that was it. I'm mostly a 72 mHz flyer, and I remember a bunch of us simultaneously flying rchlg (!) in a large hangar at Westover (I think) during a rainstorm. Back when the Nats weren't always in the same place. So avoiding metal buildings wasn't something I was likely to think of!

Here are two longer antennas Futaba makes. The one that says "boat only" was originally brought out for boat users, but should be OK to get the small ends out of a large fuselage. Of course, you will need to range-check your system before flight, as you should always do.

HSP79452 T 9M08A16102 ANT R603FS 210MM US$7.90
HSP79766 T 9M08A17301 ANT BOAT ONLY 400MM US$12.13

These parts can be ordered through any hobby retailer who sells Futaba systems and accessories.

I've used the longer antennas. Work like a charm. Keep in mind that the antenna itself is the same (bare wire at the end) there is just more shielded coaxial cable to allow you to get it outside and away from the carbon.

And yes, all the FASST antennas have the same connector.
