Use a base ball type cap and hot glue some cardboard on the bill to hold a camera. Then connect to a TV to see that the camera is seeing as use hot glue some stiff wire to the bottom of the cap's bill, way out on the tip of the bill. With one eye looking though the rectangle of wire that you carefully make, you can tell that the camera is able to see. Works great and doesn't look too bad, IMHO.

Interesting idea on that "target device" on the cap, Larry!
Do you have a photo of it?

The reason I suggested an onboard video: you can see much easier if there's strange behaviour of the craft especially if you fly it farther away, i.e. on missions. You see if it wobbles or shakes on certain moves, if it turns in the right direction etc.

Things you don't see from a distance when the craft is only a small dot in the sky.

btw: the remaing batch is nearly sold out!
There are only a few boards left in Jussi's store:

Larry, thanks for the sighting device idea. I'll have to rig something up.

kinderkram, good point! Though I've been careful so not to let this one become a small dot (yet).

Does the Autoquad have to be used with the Autoquad ESC's or can standard turnigy ESC's be used also?

@ roxyboby: we use a cheaper converter cable (~15$):

@ AlexnderH: you can use any ESC that supports 400Hz or more.

How long will this board be in beta? And will the updated board suport all radio types. Not bind to s-bus and spectrum radios?

Norf can you post a pic of your radio aurora9 with the cable from the trainer port and how you connect it.

.
There is no imminent plans for a HW revision (there is a reason the board is at version 6 before beeing made publicly available). Even though some parts are EOL, we have stock that will secure we wont have to consider a HW revision anytime soon - focus for now is adding to the featureset, building expansions and improving the support tools.

We will add more radio options via PWM, PPM and Sbus, but binding is not gonna happen on the current HW revision.

In my opinion Autoquad is already highly mature, and offers unrivaled performance for those willing to invest time and effort into calibration, tuning and setup. The purpose of this "Public beta" is make sure that the code, HW and support tools are working satifactory for a wider audience and known issues have been solved. But there is no deadline on that process and due to the highly advanced and developmental nature of Autoquad, there will probably always be some part of it that is beta

Jussi: I think some guys who've entered the ArduCopter project are skeptical since the AC is in "Beta" for years now.

The AQ team can assure everybody that

- the AQ6 hardware is mature (changes will only be made on the peripheral side)
- the firmware is pretty mature (a few bugs need to be ironed out)
- the software (Windows and Android GC) has most features working. Some more need to be added to make them complete and some bug hunting needs to be done

Same for the ESC32...

Here's what I'm using:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...3#post22087647

You could look for an old HP6DSM radio on Ebay or elsewhere.
Alternatively you could get a PWM/PPM converter and use you Hitec receiver. PPM isn't working 100% yet but it's on a good way and some users are already flying a PPM solution.

I also use an Aurora 9 radio, has anyone tried using a Hitec Rx with an S.Bus converter like this one. It seems like it wouldnt matter where the PWM signal was coming from but Im not sure.

Remember you will need a signal inverter with that to use with the AQ board.
