DX7 DX4 trainer cord compatibility
Are the DX7 and DX4 compatible for use with a trainer cord? I've searched and searched and can't find the answer.

I don't see any reason why they wouldn't work. Page 9 of the DX-4 manual says it's compatible as a slave with any other Spektum tx. The only Spektrum radio combo I've run into that doesn't work is the original dx6(not the dx6i) as master with a dx-8 as slave. If your concerned about it you can always call Spektrum support they are very nice. When I called about my issue with the aforementioned setup they took a dx8 and a dx6 and tried to do it to see if they could get it to work

I have been able to buddy box my DX7 and DX5. It would NOT work with a radio shack cable, but worked just fine with a JR trainer cable bought from a hobby shop, go figure....

You need a MONO cable (sometimes stereo works) AND there are known problems with the connections with some of the Spektrum TX - DX5e being notable, with audio cords.
Some audio cords have resistors in them which screw them up too. Suck it up and get a Spektrum cable. That should work and it has 90* angles which are nicer. |
