My new V911 heli got only 15 flights when motor started to lose power
(I allowed cool down between flights). Replaced Motor and everything
works great. Where is best place to get replacement motors?

Has anyone found a brushless motor that could be used in this
heli?

My first V911 had a bad motor. Aside from that, I never had a motor wear out on me. The cheapest motors are at aliexpress, just do a search on V911 motor. Going brushless on a V911 takes a lot of effort and is a total waste of money.

I had this problem, too. Sadly, it was within the first few flights my main motor started seizing sporadically mid-flight whenever going beyond 30-40% throttle. Luckily, my boss damaged my then-also-new-out-of-the-box 9958; so I just transplanted the motor.

IIRC, you can drop in the Bravo SX, Solo Pro 260A, 9958 (may be a little tight going in), and even an MSR (may be a little loose) motor into the V911. I'm sure there are more, but I only kept tabs on the "good" brands. :P

After everything I've read about BL conversions, I think it's (1) too soon for me to approach it and (2) not worth the effort unless simply for bragging rights. I'm sure I'll proceed with it once decide to also do the shaft-drive tail mod.

In the meantime, I think I'm going to have to solder on a mini-plug like I did for standard Li-po batteries, so that I can quickly/easily swap out motors in the event of future failures.

Buy a 9958, haven't had a motor go yet and it is much faster flying without having to spend hours modding it.

I wish I could say the same for mine. It would have been nice to have gotten used to the OEM flight characteristics and then started modding...granted, the only real performance-related mod I performed on my V911 was replacing the motor with that of my 9958, if that's even a performance boost. (lol)

I appear to have been very lucky, she has her battle scars but not a single break, the spare blades are still sitting in the box even. Until recently I had almost as many crashes as take offs and much of them into pavement or walls.

I blame my boss for the 9958. Within a minute, he broke two pieces from the head.

For those that like to tinker, just seeing how a brushless motor on the V911 would perform can be a very interesting concept.

I have been doing some research and it appears the diameter of the main v911 motor is 0.8 cm.

The blade mcpx has a main and tail motor brushless upgrade. It just so happens the tail motor on the blade brushless upgrade is 8 mm. Hey guess what? That's the same size!

Has anyone tried this yet?

A brushless conversion to V911 would be a total waste of time and money. Why would someone do this as $20.00 heli ? conversion would be at least twice the cost of heli. V911 motor failure is not comon. I have a couple flown over a hundred flights and still fly fine.

I'm sure that an occasional drop of light oil on the bushing of the motor help to stretch the short life of a brushed motor, especially when it start to appear weak or not so good.

The best things you can do to prolong the life of these little brushed motors is don't run them too long and don't turn them (manually) backwards. It used to take many hours of very hard use before you needed to oitl bushings, but I guess anything is possible these days.
