What proprietary info... how to dig ditches better?

By and large, this is unskilled labor we are talking about.

I grew up on a farm, much of my family still farms. Back when I was young, we had zero immigrant labor. Now, it is almost the exact opposite.
Americans generally don't want the job, the ones that do don't show up after the 2nd or third paycheck. They steal from you, they make up injuries and sue you or just collect workers comp at the first opportunity.

A mexican will take his pay, live off of half of it and send the rest home to his family.

An American will want health insurance, cable TV, beer money, drug money, a nice car with rims and a sound system, junk for his girlfriend, a house with central air, and so he spends every check before even gets it with credit cards and payday loans.

This thread has completely gone off the deep end. I don't think people know what H1Bs are.

What does this have to do with H1B visas?

I think H1B visas are awesome. In my field I would say that 75-80% of our H1B's eventually end up with a green card and become citizens ... that to me is a huge plus for the company and the country.

Heck yes it's wrong. It's wrong to be an illegal alien and it's wrong to hire them.

Maybe I'm confused with something similar, but we have to post job listings and go through the same thing mentioned here to hire farm workers...

really? We've used H1Bs to get engineers and scientists. My friends own an ice rink and they use H1Bs to get figure skating coaches ... mostly russians ...

the process is long and expensive. Im not sure I see the benefit of getting H1B visas for farm hands... but I could be wrong.

I doubt it would be worth the trouble. H1B's are usually professional/technical.

I said "nothing wrong with LEGALS." Illegals are one of the dirty little secrets of business: Decry the practice but use them anyhow because it boosts profits.
