razor 300/30amp esc F/S f-16-- battery recommendations?

I am going to try a razor in my f16 flying styro bird , what
are my options on batteries , nicad or nihm , what size , how many?

cp1300 or cp1700 are what I would try first but I am not up to speed
on batteries at all and generally get the info from RC Groups.

I can not use lipo or kokams.....$$$$$$ not now

CP1300 or 1700's are going to be way too heavy. your best bet is probably KAN 650's. They are fairly light & provide a pretty good punch. I was able to get my F-16 flying on 8X650's KAN's with MicroFan/Razor 300. But, only just barely. It was pretty sluggish in the air & felt like it was on the verge of stalling most of the time.

I know you don't want to hear it but I would wait until you can afford the LiPo's. It's a night & day difference & my F-16 would never have gotten the wrinkles & dings in it's nose if I had gone straight to the LiPo's.

ditto what racebelly says, I have no exp with the FS F-16, but a lot with smaller jets, Lipo is the only way to go. A real strong setup for the razor 300 micro fan is a 3s 2100 TP pack, make your jet fly like a jet, and do it for 15 min easy.

I would think a good easy rule of thumb for these planes is, stick to a 25 amp and below ESC,(probably more like 20 but...) cause the bottome line is the cells it's capable of carrying are still only gonna take a average load of 17 amps. That makes sense doens't it?

Barry absolutly, I use a CC25 only cause the next small CC was a 10 amp. 20 would be plenty for the micro in most applications.
