I have updated battery test on my blog with Glacier 160, Billowy, etc.

Unfortunately, the test does not include any of the new LiPO that you guys are using with the v911 because I don't own any of those. Sorry.

I wire UM connectors plugs on my v911 and y911 so I can use the lipo for the Nano CPX, 9958,mSR, mSRX,etc.

Tx

Hey, the 929 uses Flysky, correct? I was told the Double Horse 9116 tx would work and is pretty cheap. I waited for it to come back in stock at one place selling it for $7 but would be cheaper to get at BG because of free shipping. I can wait.

The question is, which would be better, the 9116 tx or the 9117 tx? For some reason at BG the 9117 tx is cheaper.

I understand you can program these to avoid auto flip by setting rates. How do you flip then?

Yes, the 9116 tx will work for v911,v939,v929, etc. I believe the 9116 and 9117 tx are the same.

So safe to say the 9116 tx is a decent upgrade for flying the v911 as well as other models it can bind to? I know its not a 9x but just looking for low cost upgrade without all the bells and whistles i wouldnt use anyway. Basicly just more linear adjustment for control?

I'm having trouble understanding this logic...

hard to beat $7... but the 9116 and 9117 tx are 25+ $us....
big upgrade in $'s for a micro quad...

get a 9x at more $'s and you can grow INTO it...

not necessary to make use of the bells and whistles.

i dunno...

It's more than just bells and whistles. I'm using it for my V911, V912, V939, V949, and my 450-size helicopter. One transmitter to rule them all! If you wish to upgrade to a hobby grade plane, heli, or quad, and you can then make use of your 9X by getting a kit bird and a 9X compatible receiver.

If one can get a 9116/9117 TX (they are actually the same) for 7USD (@ xheli, i.e.) as additional order to needed spares - it is a bargain.

You are right - buying a 9116 TX limits some possibilities, e.g. range, failsafe, mixing, etc... - but that was not the question. And it is out of any question of course using a cheap OEM Tx for any serious class heli!

I am not trying to answer the question directly. It was to highlight the possibility that IF he wishes to progress further into this hobby, to flying non toy grade aircrafts, then using the 9X could be a good idea.

Well the 9116 Tx has the one feature thats missing from the stock radio to make it a better flyer...to some thats all they want and dont really need anything more...I promise you guys if i decided to invest alot of money into a Blade 250 or 450 i wont be using the 9x either to control it...its a nice radio for its cost but something doesnt sit well with me using a $50.00 radio to control a $500-$1000 heli or Quad . The 9X is the Cadillac of radios for our new "low cost" heli and quad craze and it works fantastic but its still got a ways to go compared to a true spektrum or futaba system in my opinion.

And if it is only to silence your conscience
Just to stop another starting "TX-War" - the reliability of a TX lies mostly in the used module - so I wouldn't use a Futaba with - let's say - an ORX DSMX-Module to fly anything heavier than 3 ounces.
Using a TH9x/er9x flashed with a decent FrSky module system I would have no such concerns.

The overall quality - i.e. durability of the gimbal systems, stick resolution etc. is much better with the major brands in fact, so it makes sense to buy any of these if you want/need really defined control.

You also may get some limitations flying on club fields with modded TXes - btw. this counts for a decent Devo with Deviation FW, too!

So imho there is no real "right and only way" to go.
There even doesn't exist a fail/idiot/noob/name-it safeTX system on the market that doesn't have its limitations and/or flaws.

Flying ANY RC-piece of metal and plastic need some brains.
Brains to master flying techniques and - more important - brains to be able to think FIRST, to weight the pros and cons using technical stuff and consider their limitations.

We have a potential dangerous hobby!

I might add that there is a $ 2.20 clone-alternative to the MQX canopy that will fit perfectly to a V 9X9:

It will look like this mounted:
