Saturday morning was another AMAZING flying sessions out at Superstition Airpark... got to meet Seth who I let fly my 30% Extra260... I got to fly my buddy Jay's new 24% Extra330 and I rang the snot out of der 30cc Slipstream Yak55m....

I'm convinced the Yak is tail heavy... she bobs a but while inverted. I went ahead and spent some time moving receiver batteries forward of the wing tube (instead of behind).

sorry no video everyone was busy getting their fly time in.....

Started my mxs last night and the gear is different then the sbach, did you compare your yak gear to the sbach? Them mxs gear looks like it will hold up better

working on repositioning the receiver batteries and switched over to a 3 blade CF prop and spinner tonight... can't wait to try this in the air! I tested the on ground thrust in the driveway this evening... the sound at full throttle is significantly quieter than the 2 blade wood prop!

I checked the TroyBuiltModels website and they recommend either a 16x10 or a 17x10 prop for 30cc to 35cc engines... I went to the larger of the two plus the matching spinner...

I will need to bust out the RPM gauge and see what the 3 blade prop is generating at full throttle. As I mentioned in my earlier post, I tested the setup in the drive way and the "feel" with my hand holding the airframe by the rudder was good... it seems to be making close to the same thrust as the 18x8 if not slightly more at full throttle.

the whole setup not only sounds quieter it revs smoother from idle up to full throttle...

I personally like it if the LG is raked forward slightly... the sweep is usually not more than a degree or two so it really shouldn't matter.

I am considering either the MXS or Yak 55 Slipstream, over here in the UK.

So, apart from the undercarriage, what is the rest of the hardware like on this kit? Do you need to replace horns/linkages etc?

I'll be electrifying mine.

Thanks

yes the stock gear is junk replace all the soft phillips head screws with good dubro stuff, also didnt use the stock control horns they looked like they would rip right through the control surface

I did dubro pin hinges instead of the CA hinges... mostly because I like the free movement and full deflection of pin hinges.... like Bdboy says, the landing gear is like butter! you will want to replace that for sure... any load bearing screws need to be replaced with quality hardware. I used the stock control rod hardware and have "tested" this repeatedly with aggressive flying without any failures.
