allright.. some while ago i was on the chat with rc timer, and they told me they were making their own 3DR radio's and should be released soon. they released them and state they are 100% compitable with 3DR/Xbee.. sounds interesting. but most interesting is the price.
$38.99 for a full set with free shipping...

link

only downside is that it's in the 900MHz band.. which is a cell band in most countries.

here's a quote:

The RCTimer Radio telemetry system base on 3DR Radio system and 100% compatible.
It's designed as an open source Xbee replacement radio set, offering a lower price, longer range (approx one mile) and superior performance to Xbee radios. It’s available in 915Mhz ; and in the following configurations: serial board (for the air) and USB (for the ground).
The system provides a full-duplex link using HopeRF's HM-TRP modules running custom, open source firmware. Interface to the module is via standard 5V-tolerant TTL serial / FTDI USB serial.
Firmware upgrades and configuration are fully supported in the APM Mission Planner. Configuration is also possible through the 3DR Radio configurator and AT commands.

Features
·Small size and light weight
·Available in 915MHz variants
·Receiver sensitivity to -121 dBm
·Transmit power up to 20dBm (100mW)
·Transparent serial link
·Air data rates up to 250kbps
·MAVLink protocol framing and status reporting
·Frequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS)
·Adaptive time division multiplexing (TDM)
·Support for LBT and AFA
·Configurable duty cycle
·Built in error correcting code (can correct up to 25% data bit errors)
·Demonstrated range of several kilometers with a small omni antenna
·Can be used with a bi-directional amplifier for even more range
·Open source firmware
·AT commands for radio configuration
·RT commands for remote radio configuration
·Adaptive flow control when used with APM
·Based on the HopeRF HM-TRP radio module, featuring an SiLabs Si1000 RF microcontroller.

Datasheets of HM-TRP module: http://www.hoperf.com/upload/rf_app/HM-TRP.pdf
Documentation: http://code.google.com/p/ardupilot-mega/wiki/3DRadio
Radio Configurator(Air module need a USB-UART tool like FTDI to configure): http://vps.oborne.me/3drradioconfig.zip
Board schmatic:

Other
·Dimension: Air / Ground module(no include SMA connector) : 17mx35mm / 17mmx59mm
·Weight: Air / Ground module: 4.6g/16.8g(include cable and antenna) / 7.2g/17g(include antenna)

Package content

Is there any step-by-step instruction to configure the Crius AIO with MegaPiratesNG Firmware?

I´ve read now days and days and learned a lot about it. But I can´t find any instruction for Beginners.

What I need to know is:

1) How to flash Crius AIO with MPNG correctly (which settings I have to do at the first time?)

2) Which Software do I need to make settings (with instructions an comments for Beginners)

3) How to setup my Futaba T12FG for flightmodes Alt-hold, Waypoints etc.

Sorry for asking, but I´m very new to these Boards. I have built several Copters with Naza and KK2.0-Boards, but not with this (at the first look) complicated System.

I´m asking, because I want to do FPV and want to be on the save side. So I decided to built a new Copter (with selfdesigned Frame created on a selfmade CNC-Plotter) and wnat to have Position-Hold, Alt-Hold, Autoland.

Ordered Crius AIO V1.1 and Multiwii MWC FC CN-06 GPS Receiver V2.0 and a Ultrasonic-Device.

Now I have to start learning to manage all these things.

Any recommendations for a Dummy? Any Beginners-Guides I have to read?

Thanx in advance

This "method" keeps one from ruining or permanently altering their molex connectors; really nice if one wants to change things around plus these pinouts simply plug in and hold snug just by pushing them together. If anyone needs these pinouts I can get them at a local electronics surplus store very cheap. Please see photos uploaded here.
- cheers
What is that rubbery looking orange stuff on your connectors?

One question.... Is it possible to define low pass filter for gyro smoothing (120-50 hs) in megapirate's code (like in mw)?

I'm running MPNG firmware with CRIUS AIOP and Extend Board for a quad. Was wondering if anyone knew what would cause a quad's motors to speed up by themselves and go berserk if the transmitter is turned off while the quad is still armed?

I have had two accidents where I turned the TX off before disarming. The second time, it attacked me, I ducked out of the way and then it attacked my little Eflite MQX quadcopter ripping off one of its little propellers. I'm used to turning the transmitter off at anytime since I flew planes before quads.

Anyone have tips on setting up MegaPirate flight modes with a modded 9x? I'm hoping to get all of them going by using switches not the knobs.
