Not sure about the USA... but we flew between Australia and New Zealand, and we was allowed to take 8 2650mAh lipos with us.

They had to be checked by the on duty safety officer at the check in desk, but they gave us the OK.

Each had to have its contacts taped, and be bagged individually.

Apart from that... all fine

Can I take the s800 silver case as carry on ?

Will they let me take the massive lipos ? ( I have read the TSA site and they seem to go on about 25 grams of lithium equivalent and laptop batteries only..) Im now confused and wonder if they will confiscate all my lipos?

cheers

I have gone through TSA security several times with my S800 and 4x6S 5000mAh lipos with charger and Tx in a backpack. No issues and the case fits well in the overhead. With Lipo's they want them as carry on not checked in luggage.

This is how you calculate how much lithium your batteries have...

http://images.fedex.com/us/services/...ery_JobAid.pdf
So lets say you have a 5000mAh battery... 5Ah x 0.3 = 1.5gm

FAA rules:

http://www.faa.gov/about/office_org/..._batteries.pdf
Rules say you can bring as many 8gm or under lithium batteries.

I printed it out along with the TSA rules about lithium batteries just incase.

You do realize that is the amount of Lithium in one cell...
So one 5Ah 6S like we use is about 1.5 x 6 = 9

Now i might be wrong but that would mean i LiPo is over the theoretical limit...

However:
Passengers can also bring two (2) larger lithium ion batteries (more than 8 grams, up to 25
grams of equivalent lithium content per battery) in their carry-on.

So you can take at least 2 5Ah6S LiPos with you. Everything else depends on how nice people are to not really care about FAA rules

I have flown a few times over the past two years here in the States with x2 6s Lipos in my carry on. I was never questioned.

What is the largest set of lipos people are flying with on this thing? I'm wondering about throwing 2x 6S 8000 nano-techs underneath it. I'd like to see 15+ minute flights with the Z15 on there.

With one 6S8000 (S800+Z15), you have about 12min, but two would be 1,25 kg more battery, that would be >7kg AUW, please post your results.

best regards

Ferdinand

Ok I thought Sebastian did post a video before, he used a 6S2P 8400 to achieve 15 minute flight times with his Z15. Looks to be the performance I'm after.

I am using n.2 Zippy Compact 6s 5000mha 25c in parallel, total 10.000 @ 50c.
Charge rate max 5c, total flying batteries weight 1,410kg.
S800+z15+nex7 Time of flight 12'00'' with lending at 20/22% remain.
For now I am happy, 2 batteries are cheaper than one 8000 mha.

Hey everyone...

Battery choice is doing my head in !

Want to place an order for some batteries for an S800/Z15/Nex-5n combo... but having trouble deciding.

Zippy Flightmax 2x 5800mah 6s in parallel?
Zippy Flightmax 1x 8000mah 6s?
Zippy Flightmax 2x 5000mah 6s in parallel?
Any other combo?
Any other brand?

So hard to choose!

Will most likely be ordering from hobbyking.

Personally I like the Turnegy Nano Tech lipos. I will say that out of the 20 or so that I have purchased about 3 arrived DOA. The procedure to replace them under warranty is more costly than just writing them off. Right now I fly with 2x6S 5000mah. I can get up to 18min without gimbal and not over discharge the lipo. I have flown 20+min before the low battery alarm went off. However, the lipos were over 90% discharged. I would not recommend doing this.

Hey guys,

Just wondering what kind of low voltage setting you are using with the Wookong?
I'm only getting about 9min with Gimbal and 2x5000mah 6S 25C Turnigy. Cell Voltage is around 3.85 after flight, and I'm only putting back in around 2300mah in each Lipo after charge... It doesn't seem right -.-

Here's a quick vid of first flights with Gimbal
