So, is there a lightweight, non-permanent, non-electrically conductive, good heat conductive sealant (like some type of RTV) that can be spread over the ESC components?

The problem is for me and I am sure lots of others is that if I have a crash while on a commercial photo shoot I legally have to report this to the aviation authorities with all details of the crash. I wonder how it would seem to them if s800 if there proves to be a system with a documented history of unreliability. The authorities could easily decide not ever approve a flight with the S800 for any professional work.
Has DJI considered that possibility?

Wasn't there something like that in the first version of the esc, I remember people complaining about having to remove it to replace the esc

Maybe I am missing something here. There have been several posts about having the esc mounted at the end of the arm and vibrations effecting the solder joints, if I am reading them right. But aren't the esc's and the wire vibrating at the same rate, they are part of the same arm? I replaced my esc's after the recall. I have not had an issue yet and I am not saying it will never happen. I did not put any shrink wrap on the varnished wires when I redid the esc's. I am hoping that was not a mistake since the wires do rub and vibration could cause them to short. I think that there needs to be more CSI work to determine the cause of many of these crashes.

There was a thick conformnal coating that was a PITA to remove to do the esc mod. I just used a commercially available coating to cover the contacts after I was done.

OK so I flew mine all day today, 8 full batteries each flight getting aprox 14 mins. with the temps reaching 95 F.

Last flight in Attitude Mode it started feeling twitchy, started to get a lot of white flashes and for a second felt Like I was not in control...

For a gimbal test I flew it to the extremes of the gimbal, it got a ton of flashes, whites, reds..

As soon as I settled it down the flashes stopped and all resumed normal..

THIS SUCKS TO SEE SO MANY CRASHES...

You can view this test here, but watch it in 720 HD...

I cranked it so hard today i almost did a loop!

At this point I want it to fail in my controlled environment and not on a Set! That is if I can make it...

S800 specs for the temps on the motors and ESC.

Hello All,
Does anyone know what the specs are for the temps on the S800 motors and ESCs?
I did 3 run-ups today with my S800/WK-M and got what think are some high temp on 3 of my motor and ESCs. The odd thing is that they were the CCW or O motors.
I attached my chart if you would like to see it.

I weighted my aircraft down with sandbags and ran it up for 7 minutes at 60% throttle in manual mode. The amp and voltage draws were all in spec.
There was little to no wind.

I was running 2 new Gens Ace 5300 6S1P 30C batteries.

After shut down and within 2 minutes I logged all the temps.
Here is what I got: motor/ESC
Run-up Test 1
Ambient temp 80
High amp draw 35A
M1-135/123
M2-133/106
M3-163/123
M4-115/102
M5-159/120
M6-107/102

Run-up Test 2
Ambient temp 72
High amp draw 33A
M1-134/113
M2-108/100
M3-156/119
M4-109/95
M5-147/120
M6-102/97

Run-up Test 3
Moved arms 1 position CCW to see if temps followed motors (they did) i.e.
1-3, 2-4, 3-5, 4-6, 5-1, 6-2
Ambient temp 72
High amp draw 29A
M1-130/115
M2-100/93
M3-131/109
M4-107/97
M5-152/115
M6-107/99

Does anybody have any thoughts on why this might be happening with the CCW arms?

Thanks for your time!

Digitally,
Mac

Yep, there is a yaw offset the the CCW arms are working hard to cancel out. This is usually caused when an arm/motor is twisted.

Wow! So out of the box it has a twisted arm(s)? Probably the one that is running hotter than the rest?

The motors are shimmed at a slight angle.

Hmm.. So tomorrow I should do the same test at a hover and see what the temps are?
Anybody got anything on the specs for the temps? Like what is too hot and my cause issues down the road?

100C would be too hot. Better to be at 75C or less. We got one of the first batches of ESC and they ran very warm. Of course... we're in the Sonoran Desert where ambient can easily reach 47C. The v2 ESC we got did run about 30% cooler so that was good to see.

when used with 14x8 graupner ESCs stay really cold 40c because pitch is hight at the center and motors and ESCs are in the air flow
