Guys, some last minute travel came up for me this week. I will be in Dallas until Thursday night. I will get in around midnight then drive down in the morning. I hope to be there by one for the Pro-Am. I will be burning the oil but look forward to seeing everyone.

Signed up for the Pro-Am. I have only flown in two contests and just started dlg so registered as sportsman but if we run short on experts I'll switch if need be although I don't have any experience to give lol. see you all next friday!!

Jim, we will be waiting for you on Friday then!
yes, we are still short on Experts in Pro-Am, so we may ask somebody to pretend to be an expert. It helps if you stayed in a Holiday Inn the previous night. Or at least have a reservation for one.

refuse to be "crushed"
Brady and I need a capable third to fill out the Pro Wannabe's team. If you think crushing is undesireable we may want to talk to you.

Hooray! I knew it was too early to be deleting names from the registration table I can 'unscratch' your entry now.
We lost a few registered pilots unfortunately, but not too many. Buddy Roos told us that his health (back problems) at the moment is not allowing him to travel. So Buddy and Walt are not coming . Also Scott Ewers is not able to come.
We still have 2 days remaining for all procrastinators to register. Maybe we can still make it to 50 pilots?
A bit of great news. We will be using the "big clock" from Adam Weston. Bruce The Crusher is bringing the clock to us.
Bruce is also threatening to run a fun-fly event called "land your plane at my noodle" on Friday evening (or Saturday?). I'll let him explain the rules. it will be a $5 entry fee, with 1/2 going to the winner and 1/2 to the F3K team!

Land your plane on my noodle
I like that So just like I did at my contest. I will put a swimming noodle around a fiberglass pole at one corner of the field and you will launch and fly form the other corner. The closest person to the noodle gets half the take while the other half will be donated to the F3K world team. Five bucks a launch and you can do it as many times as you like. Here is a hint, it is further than you think! Most people didn't even get close and nobody hit it at my place.

Bring your cash to the field!
Reminder, today is officially the last day to register. I can be bribed to add you to the list tomorrow, but it will be getting more expensive every hour
Tom S, do you want me to enter your data for you or will you register yourself? We know that you are coming!

If anybody is coming through Greensboro on your way to Wilson and want a travel companion for the last 3 hours shoot me a PM. I am sure we could come to some sort of arrangement. My wife and kids have a really busy weekend with band competitions, Home Coming and other stuff. I have a green light to go but they really need our van for the weekend.

Latest "propaganda"/bulletin sent to all ECHLGF pilots...
We are only a few days away from the hand launch Festival!
We have had a few rains lately here, but the forecast for the weekend
looks very good:
Be prepared for heavy dew on the grass in the mornings, and chilly
temperatures for the first couple of hours. Don't forget the sunscreen
and be ready for lots of sun and hot temps in the afternoon.
Looks like we will have light winds, depending on what web-site you
believe, from 2-3mph on Saturday to 7-9mph on Sunday:
Please do not forget to bring your AMA cards - we will be checking the
cards at the sign in. You cannot fly on the field without your AMA
The Pro-Am event on Friday afternoon will be run by Kyle Clayton. The
plan is to start no later than 2:00pm. We have lots of eager Sportsmen
signed up and would like several more experts to step up and help the
sportsmen to learn contest flying skills. The registration for Pro-Am
will be open until Thursday. After that, if you want to participate
(or cancel) just come to Kyle at the field on Friday.
The pilots meeting on Saturday will be at 8:30am. We should have the
AMA registration papers ready by 7:30am or 8:00am at the latest. If
you have not paid on-line, please bring cash or a check written to
Dick Proseus ($50 entry fee, and $10 T-shirt if you ordered one). The
sunrise is at 7:11am so you will have just over an hour between the
sunrise and the pilots meeting to assemble your models, test fly them,
and sign in for the main event.
On Sunday we will have a very short pilots meeting at 8:00am and will
start the rounds right away. Please be on the field early and be ready
to start flying by 8:00am. We will try to fly 9 rounds on Saturday,
and 5 rounds on Sunday, time allowing. The last preliminary round will
start no later than 1:00pm in Sunday, and should finish near 2:00pm at
the latest. The fly-offs will start as soon as we are done with the
scores. We should be done by 3:00pm or soon after that.
If you are interested in qualifying for the 2013-2014 team selection
cycle, or just want to show your support of the USA team and tell AMA
that you are one of the F3K pilots, you need to enter the F3K program
and pay a $20 fee BEFORE the event. These moneys indirectly go towards
the F3K team fund also and help AMA to make a choice what team to
sponsor. Call Colleen Pierce at AMA and give her your CC number and
you will be done in a few minutes -

Teams), phone: (765) 287-1256 x252, email: email@example.com
As mentioned before, Larry Walls is planning to cook dinner on
Saturday night on the field. Donations will go to the F3K team fund -
bring your cash and be generous please. Larry also plans to have his
grill fired up on Friday night and if you bring hotdogs etc. he will
cook them for you on his grill. Lunch will be provided of course on
Saturday and Sunday.
I should have the flight matrix ready soon and will e-mail it to you
and/or post on RCG.
Have a safe trip to Wilson, NC. See y'all in a few days!
PS. Somebody please help out Paul if you can! We don't want to lose a pilot due to travel limitations. Paul, do you plan to stay in a hotel or camp overnight? it may be tough to find somebody who will travel beyond Greensboro both days. There are pilots coming from that direction, but they are probably driving past Greensboro on Friday, and going back on Sunday.

I didn't sign up this year; I thought it unlikely that I could make it, and I have little ready to fly anyway. I'll miss this one as it is one of my favorites.
Have fun everyone!

Oleg, It worked out and I got another pilot to come !!! Ken Lija has decided to attend and pick me up on the way !!! It took a small bribe but we are coming !!!!!
|Oct 02, 2012, 03:35 PM|
Gerald, we will miss you too
Not sure if your message meant "damn, I missed the registration deadline" or just "damn, I wish I had models to fly and more time for travel". If it's the former, then for a small bribe I can still add you to the list. E-mail me if so.
PS. Next year I think I will announce an official late registration fee. We can obviously add a pilot very late before the event, but that requires re-generating the matrix and maybe re-printing the score cards (if already printed). Extra time and expense. But if somebody really wants to enter late and is willing to pay a little extra, we can accommodate.
PPS. Paul, glad to hear it!
