Now that summer has started, I will have alot of free time, and during this time, I plan to make a f22 and f105.
I ordered my parts, and I will be using micro 4site motor and gp 30 mm df.
But I might have made a mistake
I ordered gp 30 mm df, but what size motor shaft does the gp 30 mm df take, and if the 4 site motor shaft is to thin, how would I make it fit

Anyways, I hope anyone can help me and I would be thankful

The Great Plane's 30mm EDF takes a 10mm motor.
The brushed motor from the 4site is 8.5mm.
The other issue is that these little brushed motors have a 1mm shaft whereas the GP 30mm takes 1.5mm shaft.

You'd have better success using GWS-30 which also takes a 10mm motor but the rotor uses a 1mm shaft.

Better still, I have ordered a Shapeways made 25mm EDF housing specially designed for 8.5mm motors by micro-EDF guru NitroCharged (He's just got to ship it to me).

You can wrap tape around the motor and use a GWS EDF 30mm, that would work.

Nitro's brushed Shapeway offering still requires you to have a suitable 30mm rotor (ie. GWS 30mm rotor) which also needs to be cut down to 25mm diameter. After that is done it should all be plug and play.

I'll create a thread on this subject once I get the housing.

unfortunately I did a test with the 8.5mm motor and the GP DF unit and I got only 9 grams of thrust, and I know that my thrust measuring rig works because I get 40 grams of thrust with the same motor with the pz p51 gearbox so i will have to wait until hobbyking gets the gws 30mm edf in stock

The poor thrust of pager motors above 6mm was one of the very first things noted from everyone when I had my 8.4mm and 7mm motor compatible 22mm fans. They barely make enough thrust to lift themselves. If you want to look more at the topic, search for the 20mm design/development thread.

I'm not trying to detour any experiments. I just don't see the sense in repeating everything.

One of the more successful AR6400 + 8.5mm brushed motor for 30mm EDF setups i've seen is the BAD Omega.
Similar thrust to what you measure - between 9g and 11g. Not a lot but the results speak for themselves. Just need to keep the weight of your model to < 25g I would think it it will work alright.
