June 19, Tuesday IMSF flying meeting

Wind on Tuesday is forecast light from the North, so the June 19 meeting, this Tuesday, will be a flying meeting held at the Kearns field. Minimal business, maximum flying. Also supposed to be in the comfortable 70's.
We will have a winch, a hi-start, and some light refreshments.

Bring your electrics, ALES gliders, TD gliders, and whatever else I forgot.
Great time to test fly, get instruction on winch or hi-start launching, optimize those ALES planes, or just sit around and talk sailplanes.

Time?

We will be setting up between 5 and 6pm.
Bring out what you are working on also, so we can all drool.

Meeting minutes

IMSF Meeting, June 19, 2012
Kearns flying field
Attendance: 7-8 (!)

The wind was a little stronger than predicted, or being reported--about 5 to 12mph from the northwest rather than 3-5. But it felt stronger on the ground than it appeared to be aloft. Not too much noticeable thermal activity, but there were bands of lift just south of the elementary school. Landings were not a problem for anyone.

Lots of flying by the few who showed up. Two new ALES planes were flown; Kolby Harsh (Albatross 2.4 from Esprit Model) and Everett Smiley (Easy Glider Pro). No damaged aircraft. Everyone had electrics or used a 3-meter hi-start (including Dick Bean and his Supra) so we didn't have to get out the winch. Hardly any goodies were eaten, so a group of scouts that were on the field got some real nice sweet rolls.

The next 3 events are:
June 23 - F3F Slope Racing
July 7 - MOM Slope Racing
July 14 - Aerotow at Grantsville

I presume that Ted/Spencer/Bobby/etc. will let us know about the slope racing.
Scott will keep you informed about the aerotow.
