For max thrust the 6000KV will have more power over the 5400 on 3S. The 5400 and 6000 motors weighs the same so I would think the 6000 is what you want.

Would the 6000 need a 30A ESC?

Will one of your 50mm Fans mate to the Stock F-22 4300Kv motor if I wanted to run 4S instead? I don't trust the Stock Fan on 4S.

Got the EDF built now, would not fly on a 3S 1800 25C, too heavy, sunk to the ground. Ordered three 3S 1000 30C's to try next.

I do not know if the stock motor will fit the wemotec fan. If you have 3S 1800 lipos then the Wicked 6000 and the Wemotec fan will be plenty of power, about 350 watts compared to stock 140 watts on 3S.

Wow, didn't realize the Stock was only 140W. That's lame...

That is why they give small 3S lipos with them!

Don,

I just ordered the above stated set up (6000kv + 40 ESC+ 3s 1800 30c lipo) for my F-22 (might put it in one of my F-16s) from you last week. 3 questions: 1.) what kind of flight times do you get on this set up, on average? (not balls-to-the-wall continuous throttle). 2.) would this set up be a better fit with my F-16 or is the F-22 the airframe best suited? 3.) which plane is the easier install?

I also have a couple 10 blade Cyclone motors on 4s coming as well. But, I want to make your set up my "Ferrari" plane. So I guess all I need is your professional opinion onmwhich plane I should put your set up in.

Thanks for all your valuable knowledge and outstanding business!!!

The F16 will be the fastest of the two as the F22 is a draggy airframe but hard to get the lipo in the F16 but it will be fast! See my F16 build thread on how I did it. I fly full throttle and set my timer to 3:30, mixed throttle will be longer but how much more is really based on your flying style. I never built the F22 so not sure which is easiest to install the combo into my guess is the F22 will be easiest mainly due to the work needed to make the 3S 1800 lipo fit into the f16. If you want easiest and fastest of the 50mm series get the Screamer with the 6000 KV, it is super easy to build and is the fastest of all of them (see my build thread).

Good info, thank you sir. F-16 wins. I'm not afraid of a little surgery .... I see a lot of people on here talk about their Screamers. Definitely interested, although my wife is starting to think I'm cheating on her with a woman named SkyAngel. I seem to be getting a lot of packages from her lately. Lol.

Keep up the great work!

Ok, I'm In! Just ordered the 6000 Fan Combo with Mount and Balance.

Replaced the stock 20A ESC today with an HW 40A and getting 19A and 206W. I was getting 215W on the 20A, but tested on a different Battery today in my group of three that I have, Glacier 3S 1000 30C's. Pretty powerful packs for the size.

This F-22 is my test bed. Will get all the power ratio bugs worked out on this airfame, since it got damaged in the nose trying to fly the 1800 25C's on Stock power... Beat it up and get another one later.

Hi Don,

I have tried to place an order but cannot get past the "verify you are human part". Doesn't matter which computer I use, or what I type, it always states that my second word/letter combo is wrong. Im trying to order a 64mm setup option D, with balancing, minus the 60A Esc. I still have your PP address saved in my favorites, can I just send you the funds?

Thanks

Got the new Wicked 6000 and 50mm Wemo Fan installed, but my F-22 is still out of business. Grounded!

From my testing, pretty convinced my Cheapo HobbyWing 40A ESC off of FleaBay is Defective! Got problems with the Throttle sensor. Major Surging. Same thing I first noticed with it when I put it on the Stock Motor.

Also could not Program it at all, was getting a Throttle Position continuous Beeping Error. Put the old motor back on, reprogrammed the Start and Timing. Timing to Low. Tried again. Same Surging.

Here's a Vid of the problem. Let me know if you agree it is the ESC. I will order a 40A HW from you then.

Wicked 6000KV on Defective HW 40A 2-9-13 (0 min 32 sec)
