So the governor of FL Rick Scott is so concerned about illegal voters that he wants to suddenly use faulty data bases just before the election to purge suspected non citizens from Florida voter lists, yet he has now just assured the Florida agricultural business community that he has no intention of pursuing E-Verify as he had promised he would in 2010. This simply proves beyond a shadow of a doubt his voter "purge" is 100% politically motivated. Why the feds let this fraudster pay his way out of a very possible prison term and why FL voters put this clown into office (by a very thin margin) is a real mystery, almost.

The deadline was passed, the move was illegal IMO.

Scott was turned away at the polls years ago because he was listed as deceased. He was able to vote with a provisional ballot after he proved that he was he and he was still alive This proves that the system works.

Florida is trying to clean up voter registration by purging inelligible voters, and of course, the Feds have a problem with clean elections, so, to court we go!

Florida Gov. Rick Scott (R) said he will sue the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to move forward with his controversial attempt to purge the voter rolls in his state of ineligible voters.

“I have a job to do to defend the right of legitimate voters,” Scott told Fox News on Monday. “We’ve been asking for the Department of Homeland Security’s database, SAVE, for months, and they haven’t given it to us. So this afternoon, we will be filing a lawsuit, the secretary of State of Florida, against the Department of Homeland Security to give us that database. We want to have fair, honest elections in our state and we have been put in a position that we have to sue the federal government to get this information.”

Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner produced the lawsuit, filed in Washington, D.C. district court on Monday, shortly after, along with a statement.

“For nearly a year, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has failed to meet its legal obligation to provide us the information necessary to identify and remove ineligible voters from Florida’s voter rolls,” Detzner said. “We can’t let the federal government delay our efforts to uphold the integrity of Florida elections any longer. We’ve filed a lawsuit to ensure the law is carried out and we are able to meet our obligation to keep the voter rolls accurate and current.”

Last week, the Department of Justice demanded Florida stop the voter-roll purge, saying it violated the federal Voting Rights Act (VRA) and the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) and was reliant on faulty Department of Motor Vehicle records to determine who is eligible to vote.

Well, I follow the news also and it seems that those put in authority as to voting, state wide have a problem with the governors orders to purge. If these folks thought there was a real problem (suddenly) with voter fraud I'm sure they would have made that known. But I'm just curious, where was all the voter purge mentality by FL legislators in 2010, 2008, 2004 and 2000? In fact FL isn't trying to "clean up" anything, it's trying to fix an election.

DHS is resisting Florida's access to it's SAVE (Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements) database since the information on there is not a comprehensive list of who is and who is not a citizen with the right to vote and should NOT be used to purge voter lists.

Governor Scott is following the GOP's efforts to suppress not only illegal aliens from voting (a very, very small instance) but also by targeting mostly minorities who ARE eligible to vote.

Surprising number of Republican election officials in Florida who are objecting to this purge attempt.

Florida doesn't have the greatest record for identifying ineligible voters (re: 2000 elections).

With the step Obama took today, it would seem possible that a lot of wannabee citizens might sign up to vote early.

Obama is a hypocrite because he is suppose to be looking out for the country's best interest, but just decided to allow all those who come hear illegally with kids to stay here without going through the process set up to help protect this country.

So he essentially just invited every diseased, uneducated, reproducer to come a suck from our tax base.

That is far more disturbing than a governor removing ineligible voters. Btw, I like how you spin it with "non-citizens" as if they should be voting.

Every illegal vote offsets an American's LEGAL vote, thus, what you are arguing for is that American citizens votes mean less than the vote of those who are illegally voting.
