Very cool new frame design coming out soon. Aerobot Ring

Simon pm'd me with this video the other day.

I'm very interested in getting a quad/x8 or a hexa when he releases these very soon. Not sure I could use a 12 motor airframe right now. LOL

And YES, he is using Cinestar LG for testing right now.

from their vimeo page:
"74cm diameter and it's about 10cm tall.
We have a whole fleet coming soon! One out of four of the machines coming will be foldable.
Release date, expect towards the end of the month, early next"

"Works very nicely with only 6 motors"
ABL-Ring12.0 (4 min 4 sec)

He said "cheaper than Cinestar or Droidworx"

Also, according to their vimeo page, these are due out either later this month, or early July.

I'll ping Simon and see if he can stop in and give some details.

looks interesting - one part of me says that there MUST be a reduced thrust from this design due to the extra frame elements under the props.

Thanks for sharing this Charles, i was holding out a little longer before throwing it up on Rcgroups, as i also want to show some more frames....
We have a really nice speed machine coming especially designed for long distance and SPEED They have a been tried and tested over the past few months. The moulds are done, only some minor details and they will be ready for the market.
Looking at going Fibre glass, the carbon looks sweet, however i am not really saving any weight, also for long distance flying RF is effected with all that pretty shiny carbon.
Although they will be still available in carbon, they will cost more $$$.
Hoping to crack the speed record which is around 150kms. (MK-Thor)
I managed 140 with a Cinestar 6. That was flat out!!
Some videos and pretty pictures coming.....

Some key benefits using the Aerobot Ring.

1 - Zero Flex.
2 - Lighter and smaller than other craft of it's size.
3 - Minimal damage occurs on impact.
4 - Larger payloads of up to 6kg
5 - Longer flight times with 40,000mah+ battery
6 - Vibration free
7- No assembly required.
8- Aerodynamically proven.

SPECS : ABL-Ring12.0

12 x 100gram motors.
6 x 12inch carbon prop.
6 x 13inch carbon prop.
Approx. flying weight = 8.5Kkg - 10kg
Size is 720mm.
Empty weight approx. = 2.2Kg
Total frame weight = 580 - 640grams
Materials = triple hand laid carbon fibre / foam core composites.
Battery = 21,00mah Lipo.
Flying time = 10 - 55 minutes depending on payload.

Now does this frame need to run on 12 motors or can it just run on 6?

6 work just as well, just won't lift as much :-)
I just wanted to show how solid the frame is!

Yeah same here hexa is all I need since I dont have any intention of loading any frame with 8 pounds of cameras, a gopro is more than enough for what I do.
